Amazon Release Day Shipping Question
I have Amazon Prime (my wife is in grad school so it's free) and ordered Metroid Other M with free Release Day Shipping.
The release date is tomorrow (8/31) and since this morning my shipping status has been "Shipping Soon" and not yet shipped.
I have never used Release Day Shipping, so I am wondering if anyone has used this service before and if this is normal or is there no way this game will probably make it to my house tomorrow?

Could it be a question of Time Zones?

I've never had an instance where the game didn't arrive on the actual projected release date....spare Mario Galaxy 2, which came out on Sunday or something?SpaceBooger wrote:I have Amazon Prime (my wife is in grad school so it's free) and ordered Metroid Other M with free Release Day Shipping.

Amazon ship windows are near perfection.

Same situation as you. Just got my email from Amazon: It shipped today and will arrive on the 1st. Whatever wait you might have, it won't be long.
...not going to school that day.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: Amazon Release Day Shipping Question
Amazon has made a business out of accurate delivery information whenever possible. If a game has a release date during the week and you order the RDD you can be assured that barring some kind of fuck-up by UPS you'll be getting your game on release day. I got my ship notification later than usual as well from Amazon. But I look forward to having my copy of Metroid arrive tomorrow.
I imagine that for things like this Amazon sets up extra pickup times with their carriers to ensure the items get prioritized properly. Also, there is a logical disconnect between when the item physically ships and when you get the notification. Normally it should happen in a matter of minutes but various factors can conspire to delay that.
Don't forget, the main advantage that brick & mortar stores have over Amazon is that you can go to a store and buy something immediately; no need to wait for shipping. So for things Amazon offers RDD on you can bet that they'll do everything they can to ensure you get it that day, to keep you coming back to Amazon.

Yeah, I have been using Amazon release date delivery on a ton of games and have never had a problem so far. My copy shipped out and I can't wait to start playing!!MrPopo wrote:Amazon has made a business out of accurate delivery information whenever possible. Re: Amazon Release Day Shipping Question
Yeah, I woke up this morning and it shipped at 12:05am and by 6am it was in Cleveland. So it looks like I will get it around 7pm like most of my UPS shipments. I guess I was worrying for nothing.

Re: Amazon Release Day Shipping Question
Does release day shipping option exist any more or is it only for certain games?
I pre-ordered Paper Mario Sticker Star as a Prime member. It has an estimated shipping date of Thursday the 15th when the game is released on the 11th. Worse case, I thought the estimated shipping date would be the 14th (shipped on Monday + 2 days).

^ I believe they did away with that.
Do you have anything else pre-ordered from a previous order? I've paid for shipping and had stuff held up for another item (free shipping with that one) before.

Re: Amazon Release Day Shipping Question
I have prime shipping so nothing should get held up. The only thing that I can think of is that NY/NJ are still feeling the aftereffects of Hurricane Sandy. Being in Mass, I seem to get stuff shipped from Secaucus, NJ sometimes.
