Did some googling. Japanese Jiujitsu is based on redirecting attacks, throws and locks rather than ground work. Pretty much like judo.

Yeah, I thought so. It seems that there really aren't any places where you can learn the Japanese Jujutsu. The Brazilian one is all over the place. I agree that it is pretty boring though.

As for UFC, I prefer not to watch heavyweight, they lack speed. But the other categories are pretty good, specially when the fight is between people whose main fighting style is not Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

For instance, I love watching Anderson Silva's matches - he was trained primarily in Muay Thai.

You guys can be pretty terrible at times :)

I think Ju Jitsu and Ju Do are more or less the same thing with different names. Sometimes people refer to Karate as Karate-Do or Karate-Jitsu. I think that Jitsu means technique or something similar, and Do means the way, in the sense that when you say something-Do it is supposed to be including some philosophical "way of living" stuff or whatever.

As I said earlier I think Judo or a similar grappling/throws/locks is a good one to learn for 1 on 1 situation; indeed from what I read in MMA (which is 1 on 1) most matches end up with someone being locked to submission, so that seems to be the effective way to remain safe in that kind of situation. Just trying to knock out someone with 1-hit is a bit naive, and while the other guy is standing you are not necessarily safe yet.

Yet it can be very, very effective.

Hit first, hit hard.

I've never knocked someone out in one punch but I've ended a fight in one punch. Both are completely different but have the same result.

If anyone is wondering it was a shot to the stomach. Punching in the balls isn't cool.
