My monitor is acting up. Any ideas?

Post by Master-Krill »

During the last weeks my computer screen ( Lcd, 1980 x 1680. Barely a half year old ) has begun acting up.
The right side of the screen is more bright than the left one. I have checked my setup for a solution and tried auto-adjusting it aswell as playing around with the monitor options but without success.
After a while of having it on it goes quite much to normal. Though not entirely.
Anyone got any ideas of what the problem could be?

Hmm, have you tried resetting the monitor to factory defaults? Sometimes clears up strange issues for me.

Yes. Though, unfortunately that didn't help. I wonder if it could be that the screen is cold at startup?
My room is in the basement and it can get quite cold down here. Could it be that?
Aren't LCD somekind of liquid crystals or the like? Could it impede on the flow of them or such?

It might be a problem with the backlight. Does it get dimmer gradually from side to side or is there a hard line where it is suddenly darker?

Around the middle of the screen the right side gets a bit brighter. Though not in a line. It's unsymmetrical.
With one word: Gradually.

It should be. I have no receipt however. I bought via the Internet. Though I guess there should be one on the site where I ordered.
Do you think I should send it in or so?

Unless you have a backlight from the same exact model, not really. I have a Princeton monitor from work that the backlight works great, but the logic board is toast and it makes a jittery picture. I can't seem to find another of the same model as junk anywhere to replace that board since that's an easy fix and it is usually the backlight that dies on you. It would be perfect for someone filming a Scifi movie that needs a screen damaged after a ship is attacked or something.

You're pretty much going to be warrantly replacement as Ack said or buying a new one. :(

Wait. There are some vertical lines I can spot now. Though there is alot of graduality aswell.
