tetris-bsd in the bsdgames package. Why? Because I can play it without X, which is just about the only time I find myself wanting to play tetris.

#1 Tengen Tetris - the unlicenced NES one is the one I grew up with. It's solid and perfect.
#2 Quatris 2 for PC Dos. I like it's extras and PC Speaker white noises. The 640x350 EGA mode has awesome scanlines.
#3 Tetris The Grand Master - I started playing this after seeing the Tetris Japan finals videos where the skill level was incredibly high. It kicks my ass more quickly than other variations so it's good for a quick play.

I really like Bombliss too. The massive screen clearing explosions are a nice twist.

I have yet to play Wetrix, but I've heard some high praise for it. Any thoughts on it? Is it worth getting a N64 to play?

Very hard to say, since there are rule changes, such as speed up, last-minute change, and piece hold for later versions.

I did play the original Tetris on DOS, and quite frankly I liked the Russian-theme background: USSR hockey team, Mig jet fighters!

I have Tertis for GB, Tetris EX for WSC, and Tetris DS for NDS, and I play whatever I pick up.

Love the Gameboy classic pack-in. Unique charm with music. GBC version pretty good too.

I really like Tetris for the original Game Boy, mostly because of the cross between portability and Music B. :D

Tetris for the GB, but when I got my first gameboy, one of the games I got was Tetris Plus, where you guide a tiny little archaeologist dude to an exit at the bottom by clearing lines before the spiked ceiling crushes him. I didn't play it much, but I still remember it fondly.

I started playing Tetris ds and that is amazing! I can even go as far to say that it is my favorite portable version of Tetris.

Im partial to the GB version because the NES port was totally different than the arcade version.
