Beat'em ups are one of my favorite genres, and while I love the Saturn, there doesn't seem to be a ton of beat'em ups on it other than Guradian Heroes(which I have)and Die Hard Arcade(haven't played it yet). I've been hearing about this Dungeons & Dragons collection. Are these games good?
And is it true they can be played on MAME?
So how is Dungeons & Dragon Collection on the Saturn?

Yes, they can be played on Mame, in English. Although I recall that one of them locked up at one point on my Xbox. I'd give it a shot on your PC. I enjoy them, although fiddling around with the item menus can be a pain.
If you're into beat em ups you should check out the Streets of Rage remake. I'm waiting for the Xbox Port but my brother enjoys playing it on his PC.

They are rocksolid beatemups. However the Saturn port is only two player and does suffer from some technical problems, atleast when I played it it did. Alittle slowdown here, an enemy walking through the wall there. Still a very fine game, but the mame version on a decent pc is a far better experience.

Yeah, the slowdown is what concerns me, especially with the high asking price for this game. I much prefer playing a game like this on a tv with a saturn controller, but I don't know if it's worth paying all that money when there is performance issues when the MAME version is free and runs smoothly.
Hmm, I'll have to think this over, but I'm leaving towards just using MAME.

Yeah, that's what I plan on doing. I saw some youtube videos of this game, and the combos, magic, main character designs and bosses all look great so I have to check it out.
I typically love buying home versions of arcade games, but the game should not cost as much as it does if it's not an excellent port. Rare or not. Maybe if the price drops some day, or if I find a bargain.
For now, I'll just stick with MAME.

Wow, having played this game on MAME, I must say it rocks. I could definitely see myself grabbing a copy of D&D Collection some day if I ever have the money to splurge, but it's a blast just playing the game on my PC.
Really a shame that classic Capcom beat'em ups like Aliens vs Predator, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs and Battle Circuit never got ports. Not to mention great games like Battletoads Arcade and some of Konami's classics. At least seeing them on Xbox Live would be nice. More exposure for one thing, and some people just don't want to be bothered with emulation
I LOVE beat'em ups. Too bad it's a dead genre. Games like God Hand, Ninja Gaiden,Dynasty Warriors, etc, etc. are all cool but none of these play like the old beat'em ups did.
