Impressive XBOX games that are impossible to replica on PS2

Post by claudio »

Yo racketboy, if you read this i think this would be a cool project for you to work on, sp please consider it. Mabye if everybody gets together on this it would be real easy for you to do, so everybody help out.

So everybody lets start listing Impressive XBOX games that are impossible to replicate on PS2, either graphically or computer (AI), or a combination of both.

Im not talking about games that have a hint of better graphx or shading, im talking games that would have to be re-done to a obvious lower quality in order to function on a playstation 2.

Ill start by listing these games that really utilize the power of the XBOX

Dead or Alive 3
Dead or Alive Ultimate (compare dead or alive to virtua fighter, soul caliber 3, tekken 5, not even close!)
Halo
Halo 2

Jet Set Radio Future would of had to be cut down graphics wise quite a bit for it's huge scale to fit onto the PS2, and it wouldn't be a solid 60fps on it either.

I don't even know how you would judge this really?

Comparing the quality of a game to a game in a similar genre is overly bias. Those are two completely different development teams that create different code, and each game works a lot different. Just because they are both fighters, doesn't mean deep down they are similar in code and the sort.

To keep bias down you could compare:

RAM size - does the game in comparison utilize large quantities of RAM that the PS2 does not have... or pass memory off to a page file on the XBOX's HDD? Can come from larger texture files, more unique models, higher poly counts... all of which also are dependent on the GPU's capabilities to utilize these larger swashes of memory (just because the model has more poly's, can the GPU render all of them efficiently)

Technical abilities that the PS2 just doesn't have (not sure what they are, this is something that was more obvious in old school consoles where one console supported some technique like parallax scrolling and another didn't)... such technical abilities is the use of the XBOX's HDD (expansion packs, and other stuff the HDD to could hold and the PS2 can't do... doesn't make the game less powerful technically but does lose a lot of the game play itself)

there's others, but I don't know the technical specs of a PS2... but this gives you an idea of what I mean.

After playing God of War 2, I'm convinced that PS2 can do anything Xbox can, as long as it's backed by massive funding by Sony.

so, can we start a counter list then of games that the PS2 has that the xbox couldn't possibly release?

I don't know.. might just be me, but I am under the impression that we try to promote positive articles that celebrate games and gaming while not tearing down or putting things in negative light (unless they deserve it... I'm looking at you, "new sonic games")

I bet if you really tweaked it, you could get halo 1 running on Dreamcast, even. Of course using an alien controller would be murder, and this goes for the PS2 controller as well.

Woah, I'm way off topic.

Try Shenmue 2 on PS2. It's impossible because lower ammount of video ram than the Dreamcast. Not even Shenmue 1 would run.

yeah, its very interesting now that i think of it.

but honestly, nothing ive ever seen on playstation 2 looks as beautiful and amazing as dead or alive ultimate on xbox.

i havent ever played god of war, so mabye i dont give it a fair chance, but i do know this...

games that are the same game, such as MLB 2K5 have extra details such as shading that they couldnt pull off on the playstation 2.

mabye the xbox is easier to program, but im sure there are other examples such as this.

i always remember reading game informer when they compare the same game on different systems and they always usually say the xbox version looks a bit better.

They should have ported it to the Gamecube... It may have sold more then. What a shame too... Such a damn fun game. :(
"Float like a butterfly"

And yeah, the PS2 would have choked on JSRF~
