Tetris DS all the way for me. It was my first real actual Tetris game. Though by the time I got it i was familiar with Tetris and a huge fan of it.

I love many different Tetris games, but the one I always return to and play the most of is Tetris DX.

My favourite in the current generation is Tetris mini (PSP). The sheer variety of incredibly fun modes draws me to it -- it's just a shame that they're all limited to 40 lines. A "fuller" version of the game that allows you to endless some of those modes would be pretty great.

It's a tie between NES tetris and graphing calculator tetris. I love NES cause that's what I grew up playing, but graphing calculator tetris was my best friend in high school.

Tetris for Gameboy is still my version of choice.... I play a Gameboy game for a few minutes... get done with it... and put Tetris back in just as a place holder. It really is the game that belongs with the original gameboy without a doubt!

Tetris DX is my favorite too. I used to say the GB version was my favorite, but I played it again a couple years ago and was surprised at how sluggish the controls are. At a certain point, it's just impossible for me, not because I don't know where to put the pieces, but because the pieces are so hard to move. The SNES version handles about the same. Tetris DX is much more fluid, which along with the ability to save profiles and power rankings, makes it the leader in the clubhouse for me.

DX isn't perfect, though. The music is completely bland and forgettable. Most of the time I turn it down and just listen to the radio while I play. Pretty disappointing considering how great the music was in the GB version.

Imo, the perfect Tetris would have:

-the gameplay and power ranking system of DX
-the music of the GB version
-2 player competitive mode of the SNES version

I had high hopes for Tetris DS to be the ultimate Tetris, but it really feel flat for me. Infinite spin really takes the challenge out of it and then the game just stops after 200 lines???? I also thought I'd like the NES theme of it, but it pretty much drove me crazy after about an hour.

Tetris DS and that Disney Tetris on the N64.

Also the original floppy version is good in a novel way.

Kiwamimechi, it has great modes, line, etc. Great music. You just keep on playing it.
I have lots of Tetrisses. Still need to check mickey Tetris though, that could be fun as well.

I guess you didn't play Tetris Worlds on GCN. That game pretty much proved that Tetris is NOT always Tetris. :?

Also... Hatris anyone?

I actually play with the music turned off -- and just keep the sound effects. The DX music is just so meh. So yeah, I agree. That's the one downside.
