Yeah, it should be possible to make a Game Gear into a home console using an RGB mod, an AC adapter, and a Master System controller converter table (which they sell on EBay).

it would be awesome to gut the Game Gear, use the RGB mod and controller mod and then reassemble the guts into a Master System body.

avrame wrote:Not sure if it helps, but I saw in the clearance bin at a local gamestore gamegears were only $5 each. If you are willing to pay for it + shipping, I can pick one up for you and sent it your way. I'd assume all of them have bad screens though if they are going that cheap :S
Thanks for the offer but I'm kinda out of spending money right now because I just ordered a Master System :D. When I do need some extra Game Gears I'll probably just check my local retro game shop. They normally have a lot of deals on as-is consoles and controllers. I bought a NES Advantage but when I brought it home, to my dismay, it was broken. However, after 15 minutes of tinkering, I fixed it and now it's as good as new.

Thanks again, though!

It might just be the emulation, but the game gear games that came on those gamecube sonic compilations look like shit on a regular/hd tv. They don't fill up the screen properly either.

What would be even more awesome would be combining a Game Gear and a Genesis. You could put the attachment that allows a Game Gear to play Master System games and on the Genesis side have the 32X and Sega Cd hooked on.

If that was all in one unit I would sooo buy it, though it would probably need a generator or a nuclear reactor to power it

Or a lighting strike giving it the 1.21 Gigawatts you need to power it.

Nah, you just need to figure out how to plug all eight power adapters into one wall socket without burning your house down :P
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

If someone does decide to build a Sega GeneCD32X Master Gear they should consult with their local electrical engineer, insurance company, and maybe a priest before they plug it in the outlet :D.
