Akai Katana location vids - new Cave hori

Post by fastbilly1 »

All I know is it is a hori bullet hell by Cave. No word on console release, but considering its first arcade test was a couple days ago, well just give it time.

Definitely. It seems like you can control your second weapon with a second joystick; that sounds like it would be useful. I can see how the controls could work really well on a 360 port.

Yeah, I don't really like that though since I prefer to use an arcade stick. It might just be like arcade or 360 modes in DS where if you are not firing your option is locked in place but if you are firing you can make it move how you want to depending on how you are moving. I guess we'll find out.

So I'm heavily paraphrasing from the shmups.org forum, but here's how the game plays.

There's one stick and four buttons. There's shot, bomb, special, and mode change. There isn't a second stick for controlling your option, it just does it's thing like how Deathsmiles does. Collecting the drops powers up a bar, and then you can use that by hitting special. The default mode seems to be a bullet reflecting, and you can hit mode change to change it to instead be a high powered short ranged blast. You can only be in these modes as long as you have bar built up.

Damn~ Cave sure does make pretty games. I just wish they were a little less bullet hell-ish. I like the shooters from the PCE & SNES days better but Cave's are still fun (despite that I can't ever get far).
Anyone know what kinda arcade hardware that's running on?
 (FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

Side question, does anyone know where to buy those posters for the games? I know Ebay and Yahoo Auctions Japan, but they are fairly hit or miss.
