I've got a problem with my 60GB PS3. It won't play bluray discs properly. Certain discs just cause it to screw up. I can watch a bunch blurays fine such as Fight Club, The Dark Knight etc. I've just bought Inglourious Basterds, since then my PS3 has decided that it doesn't like blurays anymore. Now every bluray I put in the damn thing plays choppy. Even fucking FFXIII doesn't play properly during the cutscenes. Does anybody have a clue why it's doing this? I've searched google but either I'm retarded and not asking the right question or nobody else has this problem.
Here's a video documenting my plight.

In a cross analogy my DVD player would do that too, especially on non-pristine rentals.
It eventually died a skipping death.
I think your Bluray drive is started to go, maybe save just for PS3 games?

I know some BR movies won't play if your Java version is too old but I'm not sure if skipping/choppy video is also a symptom. Do you think there was an update on the Basterds BR and it didn't go well or something?
Also, maybe you could try cleaning it. Do you have a cleaner disc??

If other movies/games are doing that too it could be that the laser is starting to go. Happened to me right after I got it and I just replaced the mechanism myself with another one online. It voids warranty to do that but I got it used so I didn't have warranty anyhow.
If you decide to go this route, make sure the replacement laser mechanism has brown clips, not white ones. These are supposed to be more reliable.

Re: PS3 choppy bluray playback
Well I fixed it by changing the 1080/24 option in the video settings to off. Oddly that fixed it right away. The bizarre thing was I tried that the night before when I was trying to diagnose the problem, and it did fuck all. I thought fuck it, I'll try it again, what have I got to lose, turned it on, then rebooted, turned it off, and tried the bluray and it worked fine. Completely fucking bizarre.

Well, I told you in the chat that I tried that already and it didn't do anything, but I figured I'd try it again for shits and giggles and it worked. Sony + Me does no mix.emwearz wrote:Thats a funny way of saying emwearz told me to do itNiode wrote:Well I fixed it by changing the 1080/24 option in the video settings to off.
