i know exactly what you mean. i just kinda hate the big cases so i'm only worried about picking up the 20 or so odd games that weren't released in any other region, as there are a few gems. most of my imports were released over here though, i just prefer the JPN style packaging and yeah, the price is usually nicer tooracketboy wrote:aaron wrote:Saturn - 72 (only 6 of them are US games)
all my dreamcast games are backups
Love the Saturn line -- unfortunately between JPN exclusives and price differences, it's almost a necessity. Half of mine are probably Japanese.
And the Saturn and Dreamcast are my largest collections of backups. I'm hoping to pick up a few more originals, but I've already purchased most of my favorites on the Dreamcast. But Project Justice, Cannon Spike, Under Defeat, and Power Stone 2 might take a while as those are a bit pricey (although not as bad as some Saturn titles...)

SNES, easily. My collection is pretty meager compared to a lot of you guys, but with 70+ SNES games, none of my other systems are even close. Genesis and PS1 are in the 20's (and Genesis is only there because a friend dumped about 20 games on me), and everything else is lower than that.
I'm known as ZebetiteGlitch or Zeza Von Thantos on other platforms.

Just physical media. You don't really 'collect' downloadable media. That's one of the reasons a future with out physical games bothers me.Gnashvar wrote:I love the GameCube so that's my biggest collection with 43 games, although 3 are repeats. 40 would be a true number. I'm not a collector of "everything" I try to keep my games to top 25 or so of each console.
For the Wii I have 44 games if you count Virtual Console and Wiiware. BTW do you guys consider you own a game if you have it for Virtual Console or Steam?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

i like having a nice library of XBLA titles, or games on my mac, but i do agree that it's a lot better to have a physical copy of a game.

Dreamcast, PS1 and PS2 are my top as far as quantity. As far as near completeness, Atari 5200 and Vectrex.
Voted PS2, so many games and so many more to collect.

They kinda happened at the same time. Pong and the Odyssey hit in 72 (Galaxy Game was 71 but it didn't catch on).Pringles wrote:Also, arcades, they're the reason we have consoles!

Re: The Definitive Game Console on Racketboy
This is going to be hard to explain but this topic made me think of a more important variable to this whole poll.
Just because more people have more PS2 games than NES games, it doesn't really mean that as a whole there are more PS2 games owned.
I am curious to see how many games these people actually have. For ease of explaining this situation, people with mainly PS2 games will be PS2 kids and people with mainly NES games will be called NES kids.
Lets say there are ten PS2 kids and 5 NES kids. At first glance you would just look at those numbers and assume that there are more PS2 games owned as a whole than NES games. But in reality there could be one, if not multiple people who just own a few PS2 game and little to no NES games. But the remaining 5 NES people could collectively have hundreds of NES games, or even more PS2 games than the PS2 kids.
I just thought of this point because in a list of "most games owned per console" the NES is at the top of my list. Most of my friends' lists would be PS2 but I still have more PS2 games than them anyways.
Sorry if this was unnecessarily confusing or not explained well but its 6:30 am and it sounded really complicated in my head.

Re: The Definitive Game Console on Racketboy
What's funny to me about all this is that the two consoles I have the most games for are the SNES and PS2, both over 100 titles. My SNES collection's about 175, and my PS2 collection's about 112.
