Haha, my mum is pretty tech savvy actually. She never had any trouble burning what I asked for. Of course, if you have VPN, then you could just use a remote viewer like VLC and do it yourself, all you would need to do is ask your parent to put a blank dvd in the drive and then you can do everything remotely anyway. Just ask them to take it out when it's done and post it. Easy.

Dreamcast or modded Wii. I took my Saturn and Dreamcast to college but rarely played either. We really settled down on Neogeo games in my dorm. We played ALOT of Metal Slug and Aero Wings. Granted when the Xbox came out we played alot of Halo and Time Splitters 2. Heck I know I played my GBA and GP32 more than any of my consoles during that four year span.

I always say that when space is an issue, a modded Xbox with an upgraded Hard Drive is the best way to go. Since you can store everything on the HDD, there's no need to have extra storage space for games, and you can also put videos on it, so DVDs won't take up space, either.

Burnt discs are perfect, especially if you're going to live in a dorm.

I lived in the dorms my first couple of years in the Navy. It's a pretty comparable situation to a college dorm.

Five words for ya:

Everyone is a F*#king Thief.

Bring the burnt games. If they get stolen, so what? But if you have anything even remotely valuable and non-traceable (like video games) and you end up with a sketchy roommate (or a roommate with sketchy friends) and you can count on your stuff 'disappearing'.

Bring the burnt games and wait to bring the good stuff till you have a place of your own or share an apartment with a friend.

THAT is what I spent most of my college time gaming with. Everyone loves (or at least knows) the PS2 as well, so it's not hard to get people to pick up them sticks.

THIS. Xbox or PS2 hard drive arrangement.

A FAT PS2 with hard drive and HDAdvance/HDLoader is another great option as in the Xbox. All your PS2 games installed in hard drive, game discs safe back home. No mod chip needed going the hard drive install route. If PS2 gets stolen not a major investment for a replacement.

I ditto the idea about keeping a lot of EMUs on your laptop, personally...I would be scared to death of having a console stolen (depending on what generation console it was too) from a roomie or somebody else who might sometime visit the room for one reason or another, plus keeping it on a safely hidden laptop saves a lot of trouble and space.

I actually suggest against taking a game console to college. They're a tremendous distraction, especially if you're majoring in something hard, like Math, Science, or Engineering.

Yeah... I too used Swap Magic for about a month and then I got really tired of it. Just get a chipped PS2~ Stick it in and BAM, there ya are.
