Nintendo has just announced their software line up for the rest of this year. There are a ton of awesome games coming out, particularly for the Wii. And many seem to be directed toward the 'retro' Nintendo fans. However, the sequel to one of my favorite Nintendo games (as well as one of my favorite adventure games) was not announced and does not seem likely to ever be.
Hotel Dusk:Room 215's sequel titled Last Window:The Secret of Cape West was released in Japan this year on January 14. Recently, NOE announced that they would be localizing Last Window and it would be released in Europe and available on September 17 of this year.
I've read many positive reviews of the game and I've had some small hope that because the first game saw a re-release in NA and NOE is already handling localization, maybe NOA might consider Last Window to have somewhat of a following, and therefore sell well enough to warrant a NA release.
Apparently not.
I am upset by this and I wonder if others might be also? One of the most original and fitting games ever released for the DS will have a full sequel that will not see the light of day in North America. NOA continues to let me down with their releases, or rather with their own games they aren't willing to release.
Would anyone who lives in the UK be sympathetic enough to help some of us here in the US with importing the title when it is released in September?

I'm loving the amount of amazing games coming for Wii in the next few months. Kirby's Epic Yarn? Donkey Kong Country Returns? A new Mario vs. DK? Yes Nintendo, yes, yes, yes!
I hear your pain about Hotel Dusk, but look at its abysmal sales. Nintendo of America must not feel that there will be enough profit in localizing the sequel at this time. (I don't know how the re-release affected the data, I'm not a member there, can only see 20 weeks.) Remember, for every gem they do push our way, they're still ultra-conservative at their core. If they took a risk one time and it didn't succeed, they won't take the same risk again.
The good news is you can pre-order the import if you really want, but it will cost you more than your average DS game.

Well, since it's on the DS, you could import the European version.

Bummer....but yea, just import or download it.
EDIT: It only sold 15,000 copies less here. What's the big deal?

Wow. I never realized how low the sales were for the first game here in NA. To be fair to HD, Nintendo doesn't often spend much time or money advertising games that aren't first party, so I'm not terribly surprised that Cing went bankrupt and neither Hotel Dusk's or Trace Memory's sequels were released here...Too bad what you say about Nintendo being so conservative with their own games is true.irixith wrote: I hear your pain about Hotel Dusk, but look at its abysmal sales.
Dude, no kidding.benderx wrote:Fatal Frame wii?
Fatal Frame Wii
Captain Rainbow
Disaster Day of Crisis
Pikmin 2
Zangeki no REGINLEIV
And that's just 1st/2nd party titles.
Anyway, I guess I'll be paying to import. At the very least the DS is region free.
