Ahh, the WaveBird. I won't play Super Smash Bros Brawl or Mario Kart without it.

For the nay sayers of rumble, though a different console, its the best way to play REZ.
But back to the appreciation.
Wavebird, the best of controllers that uses STANDARD AA batteries. Not a proprietary built in battery that will burn out in five years. A few rounds of PACMAN VS is enough to convince me, Wavebird is the only way to play.

If you play Wii and/or GC without it, you need to stop kidding yourself.

As others mentioned, it's a great controller with great battery life. I have 9 of them (5 grey, 4 platinum) so I will have one for life.

I'll definitely pick up a 2nd for my wife when I see another one at reasonable price (and in good shape -- I hate when you find one with a loose analog stick).

The 1st party GC controllers are very durable. I buy mine used and I've yet to come across a loose analog stick. I've gotten some third party crap controllers that as part of my first GC system purchase. They were all junk. I've encountered loose N64 controller sticks but not 1st party GC sticks.

really? Jeez, I've encountered some very battered 1st parties in the wild. One place had TWO 1st parties with completely loose sticks and they wanted $15 for them. I said "but the sticks are broken" and they said "we can give you 10% off". I saidgtmtnbiker wrote:The 1st party GC controllers are very durable. I get most of mine controllers from Craigslist although I did buy a couple Wavebirds from Gamestop. I guess I was fortunate that I bought my controllers from people who knew how to take care of their stuff.

Re: The Official Wave Bird Appreciation Thread
the one I did buy was from GS, and minty. For a while I kept seeing them there without the IR receiver. What's the point in that? $17 with no receiver?
