Old Surround System
Old Surround System
I have an old surround system. It works ok for my small room. The audio outputs for 5.1 are on the DVD, it also comes with an optic out. The problem is that it's one of those surround/DVD combo. And it has no input jacks just a ton of output jacks for each channel. I want to hook up my Wii to it. Is there any mod I can make so it has an input jack? It comes with a microphone jack for Karaoke.
All the cables from the DVD go to the subwoofer then from there to each individual speaker. I don't mind if I don't get surround I just want to hear the Wii on those speakers even if it's just stereo.
I'll try to post some pics of the back later on. It's a weird brand.

Could you just use the microphone jack as the input jack?
Like a 3.5mm to two RCA cables?

Re: Old Surround System
If you can post pictures I'm sure some of us can figure it out. It does sound like there's no way to do it though.

but i'm pretty sure the wii can only put out stereo anyway.
Re: Old Surround System
THIS. The trick is the jack is probably mono, which means stereo to mono adaptor.slowslow325 wrote:Could you just use the microphone jack as the input jack?

But if you don't mind mono sound then it should work, start with volume turned down.
RCA to ¼ Mono phono plug, plug Wii audio out RCA cables to this:

DVD surround sound system reminds me of all those fancy digital picture frames with no stupid video inputs!

i want your tube amp !
if it's rackmount
Re: Old Surround System
Thanks for the advice. I was thinking the sound from the mic is kinda bad so no luck there. Too bad I might as well buy an amp and hook it up that way.
Thanks everyone...
