Just finished Batman:Under the Red Hood. It's the best Batman since The Dark Knight with Heath Ledger.
It's dark, violent, great story, great action and great animation!
Great one for anyone who is a fan of the Batman:Animated Series and the other shows that shared that continuity. Even though all the DC animated movies they do now aren't part of the same contintuity, some of them feel like extensions of it, which is fantastic

Other than the basic premise they're really nothing alike. The genetic opera has a decent ongoing fanbase, but both movies pretty much tanked. Either way, if you want to get all twisted up in studio politics, I can probably give you a reason to boycott every movie ever made.REPO Man wrote:Repo Men is a cheap knockoff of REPO! The Genetic Opera. Originally, Universal optioned REPO!, but wanted to do it as a non-musical. Bouseman and them declined and went to Lionsgate. Meanwhile, Universal made Repo Men (originally Reposession Mambo), which is basically what Universal wanted to do to REPO!.emwearz wrote:Repo Man, it was pretty average, shame because the story could have been pretty awesome, reminded me a tiny bit of Polienauts.
Well... Karma's a bitch, cuz Repo Men tanked, despite having more advantages (i.e. higher budget, big stars, bigger advertising budget). And REPO! has a bigger, not to mention more devoted, fanbase.
I still wanna see Repo Men, just to see how much it sucks... but I don't wanna support it at all.

You're welcome, I think every Bat fan will love this movie. Hopefully some other Batman fans on the forum will check it out too. Everything was just top notchREPO Man wrote:Thanx. I put in on my NetFlix queue after reading your revIWW.Gamerforlife wrote:Gonna be checking out Kick Ass soon

I love being a Batman fan right now, as pretty much everything involving him has been fantastic lately. This movie, The Dark Knight movie, the awesome Arkham Asulum video game. Things just keep getting better and better

Inception. Quite possibly the most overrated movie since The Dark Knight (at least the critics have been wiser this time). A blatant insult to basic human intelligence (layered dreams? Give me a fecking break!) but high production values convinced me not to leave the theatre. Good score too.
The Matrix did it much better over a decade ago, and even then it wasn't really that groundbreaking.

Wait? So you didn't like the movie because you found the premise to be unreasonable/unscientific? This qualifies as an "insult to intelligence?"Pulsar_t wrote:

If I only watched movies, played games, or read books that stuck to scientific plausibility I'd get a lot less enjoyment from my entertainment.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
That's the crux of it. I might have been misled into believing this was a 'cerebral thriller', but what I found was a cheap (in terms of ideas) knock-off of the Matrix. I did yawn a few times, and when the <spoilers> totem kept spinning before the credits rolled someone in the audience yelled out loud "We want to leave already!", and I yelled back something in agreementdsheinem wrote:Wait? Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I don't see how it was a ripoff of the matrix. If you want to compare it to a virtual reality type movie it was closer to The Thirteenth Floor. I think it's dumb to suggest that because The Matrix made a movie on the concept of living in a false world that nobody else can ever do it again.
Anyway, it was just meant to create a story out of an interesting concept/philosophy, not be a documentary on the inner workings of the human mind.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Fair enough, but my disappointment was compounded by the fact the dreams themselves were mundane and lacked visceral/surreal elements that could have separated this movie from the rest of the alternate-reality-themed "Matrix clones". I read tons of literature that dealt with this concept long before the Matrix was even conceived, but Inception adds little that is new.Jrecee wrote:Anyway, it was just meant to create a story out of an interesting concept/philosophy, not be a documentary on the inner workings of the human mind.
