any other members have interesting professions/side projects
Re: What do you guys do for a living? (& gaming budgets)
I don't work, I go to school for IT. I sell some stuff on eBay sometimes.

Technically employed, but practically unemployed. My new boss hasn't put me on the schedule in two weeks (instead giving my position and several others to personal friends of his), so I'm currently looking for a new job.
Up until this point, my budget allowed me to get about one new game every month, plus a few used ones. In my current state, I've just been knocking out that back-log.

I can buy all the free games and demos I want with the money I earn.

Put a good word in with your boss. I could use the Monopoly Money.

Since this thread was combined with the older one I let it be known that I used to work in a voodoo shop in the french quarter when I lived in New Orleans. It was interesting to say the least. I also had a part time job at a hooka cafe there where I was the "hooka tech."

If it's possible to be a hooka tech can I be a marijuana engineer?

I do software development in java/perl/ant mostly, but I've done lots of C/C++/Smalltalk in the past. On the side, I do home improvement projects such as wiring, plumbing, carpentry, painting. I don't try to do all of it myself and will bring the pros in for certain stuff like plastering & tiling.

I do support for health club software as a level 2 guy. So I mostly help the techs on the phone and work on cases for really broken stuff and them to development as needed. Occasionally I talk to some club owner or employee who's really upset and isn't tech savvy at all if the regular guys are stuck.
I don't really have a set budget. I live pretty cheaply and just kind of pay attention if it seems I've spent 'too much' recently on games and things. But I really don't spend a lot most of the time and I'm on top of all my bills with stuff going into savings so I think I'm ok. My mother instilled bargain hunting in me so that probably helps.
