Chaos Field
Re: Chaos Field
I haven't bothered since I've seen it get such horrible reviews. Maybe I should reconsider. I do like shmups. I'm not going to get my hopes up for a Shadow of the Colossus of shmups though (in terms of quality and artistic merit).

Re: Chaos Field
Great game. I'm honestly surprised it gets such bad reviews. Clearly people have a preconception of what a shooter should be, and it doesn't meet that expectation initially. I think if people put more time into it they'd appreciate what it does offer.

Re: Chaos Field
I recently noticed thevideogamecritic gave this game a 1/10. That's insane. I normally agree with his reviews pretty much, but this one was waaay off.

Re: Chaos Field
Chaos field is a great shmup from the Dreamcast era. It does what it does very well - the different fields are fun and a good way to push yourself by blazing the chaos field until it gets too much and then switching... then try again when you've found your feet. This helps the difficulty level, and helps you to progress without credit feeding. It's a boss rush game though, so I find that it doesn't satisfy my short attention span like traditional 'progress level then face the boss' shmups. I do recall that it sometimes feels a little cheap when you get some bullets that you expect will be able to be absorbed by the RS style sword, but they don't and kill you. Nice progression of levels though, and good boss designs (which is handy for a boss rush game!)

I would think that it would be good for a short attention span. I mean, here's a boss. Ok. Here's another. No levels to progress through.bobbynewmarkiii wrote:Chaos field is a great shmup from the Dreamcast era. Re: Chaos Field
yeah, but sometimes I get bored with boss after boss... and they do take some beating before you get onto the next one.
Re: Chaos Field
I've been playing this one lately too. I'm surprised it has such bad review scores, I think it's an awesome shooter.
