I agree with noiseredux, it's a very different kind of "scary" compared with the older games. To put it in such basic terms isn't fair, but basically the pre-RE4 games (particularly REmake and RE0 I guess thanks to the improved visuals) are scary in a very claustrophobic kind of way like noiseredux said. It's kind of hard to describe., but RE4 is more action oriented and much faster paced. RE1 and 0 are slower paced but very unnerving and unsettling. You get that feeling of constantly being watched and stalked, snd being careful when taking corners etc. You have limted space available for items and ammo/health etc is scarce.
RE4 is more action oriented as I said, and much more "in your face" with it's "scariness". That might make it sound scarier, but it really isn't. I don't think RE4 is anywhere near as scary as the older games imo. Or maybe that's just because I was older when I first played it. Still, I'm replaying the RE remake now and I still find it pretty scary.
I think you should definitely give it a go. Like someone else said, it's one of the best Gamecube games and it would be a shame not to try it at least, especially since you're such an avid Gamecube collector.

Re: Help me pick my next Gamecube game
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Well as it happens, technically the next game I bought wasn't any of those games I listed...
I bought Zelda Twilight Princess instead
However, I took all of your opinions on board and thanks to the fact I just came into some money (was over charged on bills in my previous house - hello £159.54
), I now have Resident Evil 4 and F Zero GX in my hands. And on top of that I should be getting the Wind Waker in the post any day now.
Cheers again!
