I am pretty sure that you can buy used panties in the US. Maybe not out of a vending machine but still. If someone wants to buy some used panties more power to them. I do not think it is that big of a deal, pathetic yes, but whatever.

Garage sales? I went to one once and saw some used clothes. There might have been some used underware as well. Didn't exactly stay long looking at the stuff.

I studied the same language for four years in high school, and then for another four years in college.

Even when I'm pretty sure that a native speaker has made a mistake, I don't have the audacity to call them out on it, because I know that I make a lot more mistakes than a native speaker does.

Which is pretty much what happened here: you called me out on my euphemistic use of the word "xenophobic," when you made a grammatical mistake in the very act of calling me out on it.
