So I almost cried with joy last night when i found out Saturn emulation has come so far that I can run it full speed on my computer.
My computer is actually so good that I can turn off vsync and have it go over 60 FPS.
Guardian heroes actually runs better on my computer then it ever did on my Saturn (No slow down no matter how many characters are on the screen!, even when spells are cast in multiplayer its smooooth. Plus the animation looks better then ever on my LCD monitor.
I tried getting all my other favorite games but finding saturn ISOs is very hard. Only a couple I downloaded from Underground gamer actually worked.
I tried using my old original cds to rip for myself, but there so scratched its impossible, I cant even play from the cd.
Im not sure if asking for ISOs here is against the rules, usually it is but I got to these forums from a search for isos on google, so i figured id give it a try.
I just found SF 3 scene 1, but I CANNOT find mystaria anywhere... It was also called blazing heroes, Thats what my box says, but I know they changed the name after releasing it (wierd huh?). Anyway I would GREATLY appreciate any kind of help in locating a backup of this game, Mystaria is one of those games ive never forgotten, And to be able to go back and play it again would bring back so many memories for me, it would be a pretty sweet weekend.
Mystaria for Saturn
I have it. I tried it for 10 minutes, just to determine that it was turn based tactical. I've never gone back to it, but maybe someday.

Yeah I don't buy that.Adderall wrote:would you mind posting your computer specs? I'm curious.
I've never tried saturn emulation (being that I always have at least 4 or 5 around).. but having games run *better* than the machine sounds interesting.
Guardian Heroes is not running better on your machine, unless your frame rate cap is turned off and you're going above the max speed, as you said. In that case, it's just making the game move faster, but not getting rid of the slowdowns. It just makes them harder to notice. The only way it could get rid of slowdowns in games is by software overclocking the chips being emulated. And that would cause a ton of glitches for sure.

All the files I download at Underground gamer are giving me the Disk door open.
If I use an older vz of SSF it goes to the music player and says not a valid disk or whatever...
I dont know how to setup SSF to run correctly, its only running albert odyssey and guardian heroes.
no im serious its running better. switch the slave sh2 emulation speed to 100.
the Saturn console runs at like 90 percent slave sh2 speed, or something, im not positive, I jus found out saturn emulation was good like 2 days ago.
but think about it, saturn basically was a dual core system.
ten years later we have computers that are dual core, and obviously much much more powerful then saturn.
In guardian heroes I get absolutly NO slowdown ANYWHERE.
Even multiplayer with magic spells and a full screen.
My specs are
Abit Quad GT Mobo
Core 2 Duo E6750
Xfx Geforce 7900GT 256 mbit
my Vid care really isnt that good its like 3 years old but its all the processor, having a dual core makes a gigantic difference.

Do you think you could tell me what setup you had when you had it working?Mozgus wrote:I have it. I tried it for 10 minutes, just to determine that it was turn based tactical. I've never gone back to it, but maybe someday.

is that where you got your mystaria file? when I downloaded it from there it didnt work.
Its great that Saturn emulation has got this far.
Which emulator are you using? And which one is considered the best?
I tried one a while back which was great but I didnt see any options for changing resolutions etc.

Im using SSF v 0.09 r2 prototype.
You can tweak a lot of the settings, basically you can set your computer up to act as an overclocked saturn.
Only problem is I cant get SF3 scene 1 or mystaria to work.
Albert odyssey is great, no more slowwwww battles and movement.
if youve got a dual core computer and a half way decent vid card I suggest giving it a try.
The processor is much more important than the vid card when it comes to emulating saturn.
