Anybody Do After-Thanksgiving Shopping?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

not too many good gaming deals around here. good deals on a 30GB zune ($70 at TRU, $80 at meijer), meijer had a 19" LCD tv for like $150 and sears had a 42" plasma for something like $899. i missed out on all of the shopping fun this year mainly because i am broke and because i had to work. so whatever. next year.

I maybe crazy, but I am not crazy enough for actually going out during Black Friday. I'm kind of claustrophobic with a room full of people.

There were a bunch of good gaming deals here. PS2 Bundle for 129.99 at TRU with a PS2 and 3 games (Shrek 3, Tony Hawk Proving Ground and something else... Can't remember... We sold out of them pretty quickly and had to start doing the substitute games.)

i did and i figured something out. Some stores have 2 days sales. Target is one of them, I came into to buy something 30 minutes after they opened it was gone, so im like fuck there is no-way ill ever get this.
I go into work 8 hours later and magically after the store "team member" told me there wasnt any left, there was some there. So then I ask my boss about the whole-set up of black firday and supplies and first she says well the night before we stock the stores with a huge quanity of items and so then I tell her about the thing i wanted to buy that was sold-out and she says oh well we have limited quanites of our items. Ha caught lieing and then she changes an ad for a rocker chair from 30 to 50 cuz they sold out of the "black firday" ones, but I go out back and i see 5 of them out there.
And after i the item I bought, get this there is only 2 in the case xbox 360, right, that must be it? After i buy mine they put another one in , but always only 2. So it seems like that's it and you better buy it because its a good deal before its gone. Your brain does the marketing for you. And all the employees will unwittingly lie to you about if they have it in the back.
I figured it all out. I was like why would they lie, why would they do this? Because its a 2 day sale, if the next day they dont have any of their advertised items in stock, nobody will come back next year. ALSO its a big-ass money maker, because one what you want is out of stock, and you still really want it, so you buy the next "cheapest" one but most importantly nobody just buys the items on sale, they buy a bunch of other things from the store. So that sums it all up

gamestop in new york has $10 off all used systems and all used games buy 2 get 1 free. i noticed they marked up some games however, halo 2 was 26.99 each, lol

didnt buy anything though, but sale is till sunday, i have to see some better ones out of town before then.

to me black friday is everyday, which is basically going online to find great deals whenever i feel like instead of shopping and pressuring myself into buying things i really dont need.

check out this website to find good deals, its a forum and each thread gets rated if its good

I wasn't impressed with most of the "sales" this year. I also think its pretty stupid to have to worry about something going out of stock in 30 minutes... but if the stores offered rainchecks I'd be there in a heatbeat. Ah nope they are to smart for that.

As was said I can just shop online and get better deals anyway for most things I want - newegg.com anyone?

Got two copies of The Orange Box on PC for $25 each from best buy and Super Mario Galaxy for $35 from Circuit City. My girlfriend stood in line to get Galaxy and is happily playing it right now. I have played Portal so far and it is the funniest game i have played in a while. We are very poor right now but we both got a merry christmas thanks to black friday. :P

So did anyone get lucky with the amazon vote deal for the $79 nintendo Wii or for that matter do you know anyone that did? Seemed like marketing crap to me, and I voted for the ps3 since I have a Wii and the xbox360 arcade didn't seem like a good investment.
