Reminds me of an incident last summer somewhat related to Aya Hirano. Other Haruhi fans may remember the disaster known as Endless Eight. I remember seeing images on 2ch of otaku smashing their several figurines, multiple copies of $80 DVDs, burning the tankoubon compilations of manga and light novels, as well as the creepy Haruhi bedsheets. The nerd rage was quite awe-inspiring.

This is still incredibly sad, that these people are so out of touch with reality... but I've seen worse reactions.

Personally, I saw Aya's confession as good news. She dates older men? F'Yeah, I'M an older man! Time to buy a plane ticket.

The Otaku are being freaks about this, but I don't know if Japanese nerds rival those of America or not. We are the same people that get bent out of shape because Valve hasn't released an episode 3 sequel to Half Life 2, yet boycott them for releasing a sequel to Left 4 Dead 2. Nerds, despite being known for their intelligence, can sometimes act really stupid.

Amen. I used to like Japanimation but that was the stuff from the 70's and 80's. All the CG stuff that comes out now is bland and indistinguishable from the next piece of shit cartoon. She's making a smart move.

The difference being that the endless 8 was actually a pretty craptastic and stupid move. Really people? We waited 4 years for a new haruhi season, and half of the episodes are the same episode over and over and over again? WTF.

Though destroying stuff I payed for is really stupid as well.

I completely agree. Seems like we Americans have no problem showing gruesome violence to our kids, but show a bit of tit and people freak out. WTF.
