Jokerman Johnny has an anime-related confession to make...

Post by JokermanJohnny »

I'm a fan of many animes like Fullmetal Alchemist, One Piece, Cowboy Bebop and many others, but there's this one show that stands out among the rest. This, if my memory serves me right, has the distinction of being the first real expericenc I've had with anime.

That show was Sailor Moon...

Recently, I've watched the entire Classic season and a little bit of the "R" season subtitled and despite a few problems (*cough*stockfootage*cough), it was quite enjoyable. I saved a search for the complete series of Sailor Moon plus the three movies on eBay, but I'm afraid they might be bootlegs since they're from Malaysia.

What's the best option for a fan of Sailor Moon to enjoy the show? Should I just watch the show online? Do they sell uncut DVDs somewhere, or should I wait and hope that some dubbing company (hopefully Funimation) properly redistributes it?

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you.

That being said, I hope you find your sources online

I think that was the purpose of boxtorrents now known as bakabt.com
The original creator of said site built it to provide HQ complete versions of everything to do with sailor moon, and their forums if they haven't gone bad will tell you everything you want to know about it's availability.
I too disagree with your choice and suggest Darker than Black (tho avoid the additional season) and Gungrave instead.
If meatballheads are your thing, that site should be able to provide...

bootleg anime is pretty easy to spot online. If it's got more than 3-4 episodes per disc, its pretty much guaranteed to be a bootleg.

BakaBT is full of arrogant, elitist, aloof douchebags. The site is very good, and serves its purpose well, but stay away from the comments section and forums at all costs.

There's The Dream Set which includes the 3 movies uncut with the original music etc. I have no idea how available it is now. I looked to sell mine and everyone was extremely weary of boots.
