Arcade Controller Help

Post by Para »

Long story short I want to buy an arcade controller/fight stick for my Xbox 360. I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendation on which one to buy. I have heard good things (surprisingly) about the Madcatz Street Fighter one and apparently Hori makes good stuff but I really know nothing on the subject.

I really do not want to buy a Madcatz one because quite frankly I think Madcatz is a horrible company and I have had nothing but problems from anything and everything that they have ever made. So dropping 100+ dollars on a controller by them just really doesn't sit right with me. Even if the controller is good I still can't justify handing my money over to a cheap ass company that has made inferior products for countless years and ripped off so many people.
[/madcatz rant]

I am ordering a ServBot bobble head off the Capcom website so I figured I might just order one of their fight sticks and combine shipping. Two birds with one stone. Does anyone have any experience with these controllers or similar ones made by the same company?
If these aren't that good I will just scrap the idea and buy some Hori one from a local game store that I've had my eye on for a while now.

Any info is appreciated. The sooner the better too so I can order my ServBot. :)

Heres the Capcom fight stick: http://shop.capcom.com/store/capcomus/e ... Black.html
I chose the black one because I think it looks the best. Apparently the MvC3 one is "limited edition" but I really don't think it looks that good. Too much stuff crammed into a tiny space looks kinda tacky and the colours clash. Plus I am not that huge into MvC so I really don't care.

Heres the ServBot:

The stick you're looking at on the Capcom site IS the madcatz stick.

Don't worry about it being Madcatz though this is by far the best product they've ever put out it's arcade quality and easily to swap parts in and out. You could get one of the older versions (this is the super SF4 edition) for less money, they're all the same components so it's pretty much the same stick.

DON'T get a Hori.

I've got nothing but good things to say about Hori. I have been buying their products for 2 decades and never have had a problem. I have the HORI PS2 and PS3 sticks and I love em. I am in the market for a 360 HORI stick, but no game shops around here carry them.

In which case you should try a TE, the standard Hori sticks (particularly this gens) are awful

Thats really made by Madcatz? It didn't say anything about Madcatz on the Capcom website. Clever bastards. It also looks nothing like the Madcatz ones released here but now that I went to the Madcatz website I recognize most of those controllers.
There goes that idea. Good thing I didn't buy it on the spot like I originally wanted to.

At least my ServBot won't be tainted by Madcatz. :'(

Honestly forget it's by Madcatz, it's a Capcom licensed stick they don't put their names to tatt, it's the best arcade stick you'll ever buy.

Search reviews for the TE or the SE fightstick. It really is the mutts nuts.

It's a shame those TE fight sticks costs as much as a xbox360 itself... I have a hori fighting stick 3 and the main issue I have with it is doing dragon punch motions... Other than that, it isn't all that bad.. Then again, I'm so used to the regular controllers.. Wish I had a saturn like controller, the ps3 controller sucks with those L2,R2 triggers... Couldn't they just make the dualshock 3 like the dualshock 2?

I like those triggers - they are great for racing and first person shooting games!

Sounds like your best bet would be a Saturn USB pad that can plug into the PS3. Alternately, you could try the licensed fighting pads, though I have never done so and can't vouch for them one way or the other.

The TE stick is indeed the ultimate for fighting games, and although at $135 on Amazon it's not quite as much as a new Xbox, it is pricey. If you play more than a few hours of arcade style games though, you'll be glad to have it.

WTF???

DO get a Hori. I have had nothing but great experiences with Hori sticks. I suspect this guy doesn't know what he's talking about... Do you have some actual reason for advising against Hori, Krooner?
