I think he means making a new Castlevania and calling it Castlevania V. Of course, Castlevania IV is just Castlevania I in 16-bit. Really, what I want is Castlevania 1999.

Reading it again, your totally right. Too use to people calling Bloodlines and Dracula x (SNES) #5.

Yea, that's what I was going for.. And I always thought it kind of weird that they called Super Castlevania the fourth game in the series, yet it was just a remake.. That'd be like if Super Mario Bros. 3 was a remake of 1..

And I definitely agree that Bloodlines should be given the HD treatment, however since IGA made Portrait to be the canonical sequel of sorts to Bloodlines, I doubt that will happen now.. (But do run out and grab yourself a copy of Portrait - If you liked Bloodlines, you'll find plenty of fan-service to love in this one!) They also tried to make Curse of Darkness the pseudo-sequel to Dracula's Curse. And while I did enjoy that game, I still think they would have done better by making a 2D sequel instead..

Also, don't be quick to discount the Soma games, (Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow.) They play incredibly close to the heart of Symphony, albeit with much more whiney dialogue. The DS one only uses stylus gimmicks as it's way of saving it from a case of more-of-the-same syndrome. But all in all, these games are essentially one big game split into two parts across two different generations of handhelds. A real treat, though, if you like Metroidvania games...

Remember the rumored one that Konami was supposedly making for the 32X? It was called Castlevania: The Bloodletting, and I remember seeing one single screenshot in a Toys R' Us ad back around 1995ish. The graphics would looked incredible at the time, but the game was quickly scrapped due to the 32X's epic consumer failure, and I think the project would come to give way to Symphony.
I wish I still had that ad though.. I remember the protagonist being a Richter look-a-like dressed in red, jumping across the broken stairwell to Dracula's chambers, (ala beginning of Symphony, but the view was actually reversed.) The graphics also suspiciously looked exactly like last year's Castlevania: Rebirth. I wonder if a proto exists somewhere that served as the dump and groundwork for Rebirth.. Hmmm...
