how much are you willing to pay for a classic game?

I'm currently working on my dreamcast collection and I'm thinking of getting the rare titles especially project justice, fatal fury, or the giga wing series. I have noticed though all these games are well over the 40.00 mark and there over ten years old. The same goes for the nes and snes games. Bubble bobble 2 or bonk's adventure or mega man 5 goes for 30.00 or more and lets not even go to the snes!!!! Those games are above the twenty dollar mark for any great game for that system. Now I really won't mind spending that kind of money for a title if i read up and did my homework on the game if its that good and it will kill my budget for the month to buy games but how much money are you guys willing to spend on a retro game? it all depends on how bad you want the game, the most I have spent on a retro games was 100 bucks on Jack Bros for the Virtual Boy, that is the limit though, 100 dollars

For consoles games I wont go over $50 unless it is a specific title I want that never drops down that low. To use your example, one of these days I will actually drop the $100 for Bubble Bobble 2, but that will be when I am flush with cash.

Rarely I will actually pay $50, typically I stick to a sub $20 price point.

I try not to go over $100. You can buy damn near 2 newer games for that, as well as a spare controller... lots of food, gas, bills, etc. Being a homeowner kinda puts a damper on things like retro gaming at times.

You have to be patient. I was looking for Mark of the Wolves for a while and wasn't willing to pay 45 dollars for it. I checked Amazon every week and eventually bought it for 20.00, same with SF Third Strike, Tech Romancer and Giga Wing 2. The prices fluctuate quite a bit and you just have to wait and sit tight.

Well, it's always smart to shop around, or try your luck in flea markets, garage sales etc.

That said though,I'll spend any amount...IF I can afford it AND if I want the game badly enough

I just spent $60 on a boxed n64 game. I probably overpaid by a good amount but I'm not too worried. That's probably the most I've ever spent on a used game, honestly.

I do not spend a lot of individual games. I do not have a rule or any kind of limit, it is just that there is so many super cheap really good games out there. I can not see my self spending over $70 for a game.

i cant see myself spending 100 and up for a nes game like bubble bobble 2 or ducktales 2. If i was 16 and had no bills or kids sure but some people actually spend that much on a nes game? In my opinion and I'm not not bashing any collectors but for me, if I spend more than 100.00 and up for any game it better do more than for me than just put the disc/cartridge into the system and just play!!!

I think the most money I've spent as once for games was 100 bucks for a bunch of stuff from NoiseRedux. At a store, I remember spending $80 for a copy of Earthbound at a local game store.

So I would probably pay no more than $150 for games at once.
