This is an Arcade Fire appreciation topic, but the concert tonight is more immediately relevant. Terry Gilliam will be directing the concert from Madison Square Garden, which will be streamed live to Youtube tonight at 10:00 EST.
I saw them in concert last night (they're playing the same venue two days in a row), to a sold out crowd (about 20,000 people), and it was absolutely amazing. It completely blew away my expectations of what a concert could be. There were nine people on stage, with instruments ranging from three violins, a keyboard, a piano, two drum sets, an accordion, three guitars, and more. Régine Chassagne jumped around from the drums to the accordion to the piano to the mic, twirling streamers when she wasn't singing. In one song, William Butler took a drum in hand, beating on it with a drum stick, eventually losing the stick and proceeding to bang on it, above is head, with his bear hand - throwing it to the floor when the song came to a conclusion.
Most impressive was just how much sound they could produce - the instruments working together to create a sound so unexpected and so voluminous in a rock concert. I'm not one to gush about an artist or an event, but I was so amazed that, given the concert tonight, I wanted to make sure people got the chance to see the concert on Youtube if they're inclined.

I'm a big fan of both AF and Gilliam and have been interested in this as well - any idea if it will be archived somewhere for a while? I don't necessarily want to have to tune in live to see it...

I'm pretty sure it will be archived on the channel I linked.

Just seen them in Montreal last Weekend, SO GOOD. Had Owen Pallet on stage and everything, you really have to hear them live to understand how great they really are. Just started listening to The Suburbs today

Thanks for the reminder, buddy. I'm seeing them tomorrow night at Merriweather. So pumped! One of the few current bands that I follow.
