Im sure a thread like this exists somewhere but
im just starting to get back into nes/snes games and I purchased one of these on ebay, I am now reading certain games wont play on this system (battletoads, ducktales) is there truth to this?
also what is everyones opinion on this system? at the time it seemed like my best option but now im starting to get buyers remorse
also new to these boards, might stick around
fc twin
Re: fc twin
The fc twin, and a a few other clones (such as the retro duo, etc.) All have some problems with some games. Clones all have minor sound issues with all nes games. Clones emulate the hardware to play the game. The fc twin actually has the least compatibility as far as I know. Some games just can't work because it isn't emulated perfectly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Twin has a list of games that are not compatible.
I prefer original hardware; However I've had an fc twin, but I think that the retro duo is a better clone. You probably won't have problems with the fc twin if you don't play a huge amount of games on it.

Re: fc twin
I also recently bought an FC twin and I am happy with it. For the relatively cheap cost to get one you get good emulation. I find the sound issues with NES games to be overrated as they are rarely a problem.
All in all I would recommend the FC Twin as a cheaper alternative to buying both an NES and a SNES.

Re: fc twin
i got one as well. controllers are total junk, both of mine didnt work right out of the box. this was a few years ago though, they may have improved.
the only thing i noticed was slow down occurred more frequently in NES games, but it was pretty rare to begin with. sound is slightly off. I think they are worth it if you use regular SNES controllers. I wish it was NES compatable though for my NES advance controllers.

Re: fc twin
I'm sure down the road they might be good investments but I would much rather have the original consoles. I've only heard mixed things about the Fc twin, I personally would spend the extra money to get the individual consoles.

When you receive it, throw it away and buy this:

I have one, and I haven't had any unfixable problems with it. 100% compatibility with ALL NES games (including CASTLEVANIA 3), plus it has the original controller plug, so you can swap out any other NES controller with the ones it comes with. That means you can also use light guns with it.

Re: fc twin
Not sure if it matters to you but the FC twin has the region lock tabs in the SNES portion. You will need to break them off to play non NA games. As far as I know the Retro Duo does not have the lockout.
