Yikes. I thought they've been hit or miss. None have been falling down hilarious but they don't aggravate me like flo. They're just kind of there.dsheinem wrote: Anyone who likes those cavemen ads and thus keeps them going is a complete and total jerk with absolutely no appreciation of humor and probably deserves to die alone.

As aggravating as these ads are, this thread is proof they work. Insurance isn't exactly a exciting product so these marketing ploys whether funny or aggravating get the product and company to stick in your head. Because in the end, you don't really care if the commercial was funny or aggravated you, all you care about is how cheap your insurance is.

Eh, I don't mind any of them. I like animation so I dig the esurance chick, some of the cavemen stuff was funny even though the whole concept makes absolutely no sense at all and Stephanie Courtney seems like a cool chick off camera so she gets a pass. Actually, she's kind of cute in that Flo getup. I think the real reason people like Flo is because she's a customer service rep who actually gives a shit about her customers and enjoys her job. How often do you see that today? That's what people WANT to see when they shop somewhere, even if that person acts like a completely dork, which Flo does in every single commercial. That's her charm, she's a dork, but she cares about her customers. That seems to resonate with people

That's the theory anyway. But I can tell you I have sworn off more than a few products because of horrible commercials. Not to mention every single insurance commercial tells you how cheap their insurance is, so it's not like I'm really going to base my choice on the commercials. I'm going to shop around for the lowest rate. And when I'm doing that, I'll be skipping progressive and esurance's sites.corn619 wrote:As aggravating as these ads are, this thread is proof they work. The fact that everyone knows what "character" represents which brand really makes a marketing guy like me happy.
I'd love to see a game where I can go around shooting "reality stars".
We need less people who funnel jack and cokes on this planet.

So you'd be willing to pay more for insurance just because you didn't like the company's commercial? Interesting, very interesting you are indeed a man of your beliefs. I wasn't exactly a fan of Flo, but they were $40.00 a month cheaper than everyone else, and they were great when my wife was rear ended so I went with them. Not trying to sound like a Flo advocate here, just my personal experience with them.Jrecee wrote:That's the theory anyway.
