Just grab the DVDs and watch them at your leisure the same way you watch any other show. Dexter is a great show so it is definitely worth a viewing even though it isn't as consistent as Breaking Bad.

That's the way I felt when my brother suggested I watch Lost. Wayyyyyy too much catch-up. I did make it through the first 6 episodes before I just quit.

Good choice. I had fun watching it over the years, but now that I know the ending I just can't recommend it to anyone.
