Does your Public Library have Video Games?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Does your Public Library have Video Games?

Post by Metal Militia »

So I went to the public library by my house to look at the movie and music selection and noticed that the had some video games you can check out. I thought that was pretty fucking awesome because who doesn't want to check out video games with your library card for free. Just wondering if your local public library has video games you can check out? Some games that they had available off the top of my head at my library include

Super Street Fighter IV-PS3
MLB: The Show-PS3
NHL 10-360
Batman: Arkam Asylum-360
Soul Calibur IV-360
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess-Wii
Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection-360
Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe-PS3
New Super Mario Bros-Wii
Monster Hunter Tri-Wii
Boom blox. Bash Party-Wii
Okami-Wii
Super Mario Galaxy-Wii
Super Smash Bros. Brawl-Wii

For being a library, that is a pretty damn good selection if you ask me. I guess having fun isn't hard, when you got a library card.

I'm not sure about my town library but it's part of a regional network that offers games (DS, 360, PS2, PS3, Wii).

I can't believe you can borrow a video game for free considering movies were either a dollar or 2.

Mine has some games. They even have DS systems to sign out and play but I don't think you can leave the library with them.

I wish mine did, considering it's across the street from my house! I should suggest it maybe.

My library is cool. They have a really large CD and DVD selection, and they show movies on a projector big screen once a month. Good ones, like Let The Right One In and Angel Heart.

They also sell stuff they don't want anymore. I ALMOST picked up a complete GTA PC game (GTA3? GTA4? Vice City? -- I can't remember) to see if any of you guys wanted it, but I had no $ on me that day. And last week they had two huge Visual Basic books with software included selling for 50 cents each!

My local library does not have any video games. However, it does have a massive collection of VHS tapes.

Hi,

I work for a public library branch in my city, and we have video games as well. Wii, Xbox 360, and PS2. They usually have long request lists though, so you have to get at them early. My branch is in the final stages of a massive renovation (re-opening August 16!) and sometime this year we are supposed to get a Wii for the branch. I think there are two other branches in the city that have Wiis set up for general use, but I haven't visited those branches to see.

There is a city library and also a county library system in most large cities. One or the other may have video games. A convenient way is to reserve movies, games and oh yes books too online. Just for example, the county library system here has a range over 4000 square miles. Too far to drive, so library will conveniently deliver to local branch once you reserve pops up on the cue.
