I've heard Sonic Mega Mix is another good fanmade game. And its actually been released in "Genesis format" so it can be played in emulators or on a flash cart or as a reproduction.

Sonic Megamix's been out for yonks. I was looking forward to Sonic Nexus but it seems the team behind it take themselves too seriously. Also, it's highly unlikely at this point that Sonic 2 HD will ever be finished.

Sonic fandom has its nefarious reputation for a reason. But it's always amusing to witness their online behaviour.

Been out for yonks? I have no idea what that means. Isn't it already finished? Or is that supposed to mean its already been out for a long time, so you've played it and need another Sonic fix? I really have no idea.

Yonk = a long amount of time  http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_Megamix Basically it's a Sonic hack that was first released for the SegaCD, five years ago. I enjoy these classic-themed hacks and fangames, but I almost never get my hopes up for any promised projects because they're most likely never finished.

Consider this bumped. Apparently some bugs exist but it's impressive that a Sonic fangame gets actually done.. I reckon mirrors can be found if you're willing to have a go at the borked release.

Mega Mix looks amazing, same with Nexus and XG... but I'm pretty oblivious to the completed fanmade Sonic games out there. Any suggestions? I really dig these ones that seem to pull a lot of influences from Sonic CD. :D

I just beat Sonic Megamix, awesome stuff. I wonder what the background in the Misty Maze stages comes from? I think it's from one of the Sonic CD special stages... all in all cool stuff and worth the play.

I always seemed to have problems running Sonic Megamix on real Sega CD hardware, but maybe I had a bad burn, I'm gonna try it again. As for Sonic Classic, looks like it's gonna be sweet! Downloading right now!
