aww that sucks.
I found mine locally, I wasn't planning on getting one at the time but had to jump on it considering how nice the condition of the controller was. Came with the expansion pack too.
Hope you find one.
Buy an N64 just for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark?

Always another sale some where. PERFECT DARK and ROGUE SQUADRON look sweet with the expansion pak.Onyxthecat wrote:I'll look for the S-video cable, thanks. I ended up not getting the N64 because paypal limited my account access and saw that I am currently in China and canceled the transaction so I'm going to have to wait till I get back home to order one

in perfect dark's case, it's essentially not even playable without the expansion pack. That is unless you really enjoy 2p only multiplayer and nothing else.

The expansion pak with the console is a definite for me. I didn't know that it was that important for PD. I had one with my first N64 and I couldn't remember what it did for the games I had. I just emulated perfect dark on my mac and wow, the memories just started flooding back lol. It was glitchy as hell and now I want it even more.

Get Goldeneye first then Perfect Dark.
NOW YOU'RE PLAYING WITH POWER!

There is something to be said for playing games on the original system they debuted on, that much is certain. The benefits vary from game to game dependent on what you are wanting to get from it. When it comes to Nintendo 64, I have personally stowed mine in the closet in favor of newer options available for most of its top tier games.
If you have an Xbox 360 and a Wii, then you might also consider the following option. Xbox Live Arcade has Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, and Perfect Dark available for download. Playing that console on an HDTV with an HDMI cable will yield sharp, enhanced visuals for all of them. The controller and option for online play with Perfect Dark make these newer versions preferable in many ways to trying to play them on the original console.
The Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console has Super Mario 64, Starfox 64, Sin and Punishment, Zelda Ocarina of Time and Zelda Majora's Mask, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Brothers and dozens of others available for download. If you use Component cables on an HDTV + a Gamecube Controller, you have much nicer looking versions of all of these games and a controller with an analog stick that makes them easier to play than they were on the original console.
I'm all for playing the games on the original consoles, and it is something I do with dozens of games. The Nintendo 64 just isn't one of them, when there is an option for so many of its best games that is in many ways a far better experience. I don't speak for everyone, and understand there is the matter of personal preferences to consider, but I just wanted to throw this out there in case anyone was unaware of it.

Im right there with you Lonecynic, but there are many great N64 games that havent seen the light of day on anything else, nor will they except through emulation. Body Harvest, Battle Tanx Global Assault, Forsaken, to name a few. However once emulation on the Wii can handle these games at full speed my N64s may get a long time off.

I think the main point was that these specific games are not available to me unless I have the originals.
