I saw inception this past weekend. As I watched it, it screamed "make me into a video game". I don't think it should be made into a game directly as the movie stands strong on its own. But it could exist in the same universe. I wrote it on my site which I will paste below but please feel free to check out my site. The link is in my signature.
COPY-START
I saw Inception the other day. That movie needs to be made into a video game. Not directly, but in the same universe. I present to you,
Inception the video game
In inception the video game you take on the role of a secret government agent whose job is to go into the minds of political figures and important individuals and either perform extraction or inception. This may be because a senator is suspected of taking bribes and you must extract evidence. Or maybe a foreign leader is considering a treaty and needs some “help” making a decision.
You would be given a target who you would have to tail. This part of the game can be done stealthily or guns blazing. Once you have sedated the target, you and your team will enter the targets subconscious to acquire the information or plant an idea. Some targets will be more difficult than others. Some targets have mental training which will conjure armed soldiers to defeat you.
Each level of the game is a "level" of consciousness. While in a targets dream, you must not be killed or you will wake up. Alternatively, your target cannot be killed or he will wake up, also failing the mission. You will have a time limit in most missions. In missions involving inception, use of the extreme sedative will be in place. This means that if you die, you fail. If the target dies, he slips into a further state of unconsciousness, causing you to go into another dream within a dream.
Once the mission is complete you will exit the dream state and make your way to a safe zone, thereby finishing the job.
Maybe at some point after many missions, your character knows too much and the government feels you need to be eliminated. From that point on, you must either erase your own memory though your dreams or the memories of your boss’.
Something like that anyways, I'm no professional.

I think almost any movie made into a game several years after the movie's release has a shot at being cool.
I really want to see Inception. There's so many garbage movies that come out it makes me tired of being so jaded all the time.

I think Inception is a pretty good movie, but the story really collapses in on itself early on. I honestly couldn't tell what was going on for most of the movie. Also, I'm pretty sure there is an Inception game, but it is only coming out for Android phones. Hooray for exclusives!

Really? What confused you?lisalover1 wrote:I think Inception is a pretty good movie, but the story really collapses in on itself early on. I honestly couldn't tell what was going on for most of the movie.
I'm not sure how well a game would translate. The most interesting game concept involves the use of time across levels, which I didn't see accounted for in your description. A game with levels connected by time and with repercussions across each could be interesting, but I am not sure how it would work either.
Frankly 90% or more of movie games suck, so I hope they stay away from this one.

Usually movie games do suck. But I think that is largely due to the fact that many movies do not translate well to games. Typically, a game genre is just sort of glued onto a licensed movie title an boom, game is done, and garbage. I think inception would be a rare case of a good adaptation as it has elements that already exist in video games.

It'd end up watered down. The game designers would just pick out the coolest scene (the hallway fight) and make a whole game around that. And add bullet time.

It's funny, because they're still advertising it at Gamestop.aaron wrote:for some reason they pulled it from the market. not sure why. i've been trying to find a copy online.lisalover1 wrote:I think Inception is a pretty good movie, but the story really collapses in on itself early on.
