Tales of Innocence Translation Patch Released!

Post by lisalover1 »

YES! The Tales of Innocence translation patch is finally finished! Take that, Namco Bandai! The fans did what you couldn't, and localized a game for you, you lazy, greedy, ignorant sacks of shit!

...*Ahem*... Sorry, I just had to get that out of my system. Anyway, the Absolutezero translation team has, at long last, released the finished translation patch for the acclaimed DS RPG, Tales of Innocence. The only thing missing from this release is, sadly, multiplayer, which proved troublesome to get working. I hope that it can be fixed, soon, though, so I can play the way Tales games were meant to be played: With 3 other friends, all sitting around fighting battles together in the game. :)

Here's the link to the page: http://www.absolutezerotranslations.com ... -released/

I played this for over half an hour and at no point did I get a chance to save. Eventually my batteries went flat and I gave up.

Its possible that The rom file I patched was corrupt though because I was unable to pause the game and the bottom screen only had the playtime on it and no touch functions.

It seemed like a game I could get addicted to but I still have tales of vesperia to play through so I'll wait until I've finished it before moving on to another tales game.

I've always wanted to do game translations, but I have no idea where to start.
I wonder if anybody on Racketboy is working on translations, I can help!
I just feel it's a wasted skill on my part.

As I understand it, the translator's job is easy; the programmers just send him the script ripped from the game, and he just translates it and sends it back when he is done. Now, obviously, it does take a long time to translate an entire game, but the translator doesn't have to code a single thing if he doesn't want to.

Oh, yeah, of course. I don't know crap about programming or coding.
Just give me some text and I'll translate it. That's what I wanna do.
It can be a pain in the ass, but it's fun.
I already do that with Japanese car magazines for nasioc.com

I'm a few dungeons in. It's nice that I've already gotten 5 of my six party members, which lets me pick the party I want. I just hope they don't pull a dick move and have party members drop in and out for story concerns.

And the Tales of Hearts translation is also going along pretty well, so now we'll have both DS Tales games.

Maybe you should ask some translation groups if they need a hand. There are a ton of groups out there that are in your exact opposite situation: They know a lot about programming, but don't know Japanese. Try to find a group that is translating a game or series that you love, and you'll be much more motivated.

I emailed the guys doing the Shining Force III translation. Let's see if I hear back from them.
The games I really love don't really need translations (shmups and racing games) so I don't mind doing RPGs. RPGs aren't my forté, but I still enjoy em.

I might give it a try in the future, too many games to play. Looks good though.
