Street Fighter Problem

Post by PharmaceuticalCowboy »

Hey guys, I recently procured a copy of Street Fighter Alpha 3 in nearly perfect shape. The only problem is that when I put the disc in to my Dreamcast it goes straight to the bios and if I select play disc then it will try for a couple of seconds and go back to the bios screen. Are there discs that can be bunk while looking to be in good condition? What about trying a boot disc, could that possibly help? Thanks!

has your DC had issues booting any other games?

Mine will sometimes play certain games but other games it won't load on the first time. I have to get it to load one of the games that always works, and then try the game that won't load before it does sometimes. I think it's because my laser is dying out on me. That could be your problem, too.

I have heard of that problem, but no other disc has ever given me any other boot issues other than this one.

Since you own an original, you could download a copy and just play the backup. That's 100% legal.

I've had this problem before where the disc looks amazing but for some reason doesn't work. Try putting alcohol on a cuetip and cleaning the laser. If that doesn't work just keep the game for collections sake and download a backup. PM me if you need a UG invite

Thanks for the help guys, seems to be some kind of physical defect on the disc, how very disappointing. I guess I will be PM'ing you dudex, seeing as all the regular torrent sites have little to offer...

I had a problem similar to this with my 3rd Strike disc, but it was horribly scratched. I got sent to the bios screen as well and the game just wouldn't run. Anyway, I got it to run by starting up the Dreamcast with the disc door open, and then giving the disc a bit of a spin, and then shutting the door and selecting play game; that seemed to do the trick...maybe try that.

i had a sonic adventure disc do that long ago, some googling led me to believe i got a manufacturing defected disc as this had happened with many sonic adventure discs (yay, go launch title!) but i've never heard of that for sfa3. go with the backup cd-r!

Was this a PAL version of the game? If so I've had this problem with a few PAL games myself...namely a bunch of copies of Virtua Striker 2 and a copy of Virtua Tennis 2.

Definitely a U.S. copy, I'm gonna get a backup as soon as I can get into UG, apparently they are down atm.
