Guwange XBLA

Post by Octopod »

Thought I would make a post about this for those who do not know yet. Cave is porting Guwange, which is one of their older games, to XBLA. Deathsmile has sold about 50k copies in the US now and with Guwange getting a release it seems we may be able to expect more Cave games being localized for the US market. Hell, Otomedius Deluxe is coming to 360 soon too, so it is not just Cave. I am not sure when Guwange is suppose to be avaiable.

It seems like the SHMUP marketing experiments in North America were a success; now the 360 is getting a ton of shooters. I'm definitely buying Guwange, but Otomedius Deluxe currently is being planned for a $60 release price, and it won't come with any extra stuff like Deathsmiles did... Konami had better have something special planned.

I think that the $60 price point is wrong. I think it is something that GS made up for pre-orders. When Otomedius was released in Japan it was bundled with a special joystick with a touch screen because I believe the arcade version used a small touch screen also. Maybe we will see the same sort of bundle.

I am pretty sure Deathsmiles came with extras for one reason only. MS has a minimum amount for pressing, unless...it is for a limited edition. It was just a way for Askys to bring the game over and not have to meet the minimum pressing requirement. I could be wrong though.

I do know that Guwange is definitely going to be a worldwide release. We're also getting DoDonPachi Daifukatsu as a worldwide iPod/iPhone release in the near future.

Esprade should be the next game for XBLA.

Expect a announcement on August 16th next month at the Summer Cave Festival along with the inevitable Dodonpachi Dai Fukkatsu / Resurrection Xbox 360 retail release.

2010 - Year of the Shmup. This is awesome. I just hope as much as possible is coming to North America. I don't have a Japanese 360 and I certainly don't plan on buying one.

Been playing the crap out of Deathsmiles lately.

You can pray for more region free releases. Who knows it could happen again

I am hoping that Cave goes ahead and allows someone to localize the Japan region locked games they have already released on the 360. I'd be willing to bet that we end up getting Deathsmiles 2.

I wish they would release these for Android phones as well. I'm sure it is just a matter of time.
