Todays haul from a garage sale

Post by CantStrafeRight »

I've been going to a annual garage sale day in a town near where I live for 5 years now, and up until this year the best I got was some DVD's, books, old PC games and a network router.

This year has been the best so far
Today I got all this for £17

Most of the places were selling antiques, children's toys and VHS tapes.

One of the first places I went I got 3 big boxed PC games(Star Trek Generation, Klingon Honor Guard & Frankenstein through the eyes of the monster), and the film Brick on DVD. Overall it cost me £5.

An hour or two later I found a place selling a load of PS2 games so I picked up Drakengard for £2. After buying this I thought I was doing well and I was happy with what I got.

When I got to one of the last places on the map of garage sales I had a quick glance around and only saw old toys. I was ready to walk away when i notice a box on the floor with Bart Simpson VS the Space Mutants sticking out.

I quickly dived into this box and found 11 boxed mega drive games (most of witch I didn't have), Sonic and Knuckles unboxed, a N64 with 3 games , 1 official pad, 1 unofficial pad and as I later learnt no AC adapter, and at the bottom of the box was a fully boxed Megadrive II with 2 pads.

I looked up to see who was running the sale and all I saw was kids none of which could be over the age of 11. I asked one of them how much the stuff in the box was expecting him to give me a price of each item in the box, but I was surprised when he said the whole box was £10.

I instantly pulled out my wallet, gave him a £10 note, said thanks, picked up my box, and went as quickly as I could in case some parent realised their child's mistake.

Overall its been a pretty good day.

Nice, Those are good garage sale prices. I've hit a bit of a dry spell myself. Can be frustrating. Always nice to hear of others successes.

I heard ST: Gen was pretty bad, I haven't played it myself though. I liked Klingon Honor Guard when I played it back in the day. It's no Half-Life but it's an enjoyable ST themed Unreal 1 game. I dunno about Frankestein. It's one of those crappy FMV games, but it has Tim Curry so it can't be all bad.

I checked 3 pages into the General Gaming section trying to find that thread.
It never crossed my mind to check the marketplace as I associate it with selling stuff.

ST: Gen is bad but I have fun memories of playing it with my cousin. If I remember right it had an interesting mechanic where if you fail mission you continue to play but have to deal with the consistences of the fail

If Tim Curry wasn't in Frankenstein I wouldn't have bought it.
