Proof that gaming STILL isn't mainstream entertainment

Anyone here who has a facebook account, have you noticed that under your profile info there is a category for music, tv, movies and books, but nothing for video games? Anything game related just goes under "other".

I think that's very telling of where gaming still is and may always be

Or it could just be that if they had a video game section it might encourage people to play real video games instead of Farmville, thereby robbing Facebook of millions of dollars in revenue.

I just use the TV section to list games and systems.. Not like there's anything on television nowadays worth turning OFF the xbox for anyway...

Do we really want gaming to become any more mainstream?

I'm sick and damn tired of all the Gears of War, God of War and Modern Warfare clones out there. Everytime I see a Singularity, Darksiders or (New) Medal of Honor, a part of my soul dies.

I want the good ol' days back. I'd take getting harassed on the playground any day of the week over a release schedule where the highlights consist of Kane & Lynch 2, Mafia II and Clash of the Titans.

I know, I know, Rose-tinted glasses and all that crap.

I don't buy it for a second, though. Back in the day, there were plenty of games I wanted and never had a chance to play because there was just too much good shit out there. These days, it's just the opposite - I've got too much time and nowhere near enough games.
