And one hour is considered fast!!!!!
so it takes a full hour to fight a boss?

how is that fun or enjoyable at all? that sounds awful. mental note: never buy or play FFXII.

I can't believe no one mentioned Zelda 2 for NES.

Unlike many boss battles like with Zelda or Mario games where it is nothing but a trick that you rinse and repeat a few times, fighting your shadow in Zelda 2 was nothing but pure skill. Not to mention, getting to him in the first place was an amazing feat in itself.

This was the only game in my life where I felt it was like a real life fight. No slow paced turn based fights, no tricks, just pure out attack/jump/blocking skill action that is relentless and fast paced.

On another note:

No it doesn't take an hour to kill the boss... perhaps gamerforlife rushed the game and tried to beat him low leveled. I killed him in 25 minutes or so, and a lot of the fight is cut scene.

FFXII is a good game. I didn't get into it as much as FFVII and FFVIII but if you are into RPG's you should check it out.

Really? I've heard that you can just crouch and mash B to stab his knees until he dies.

that is the trick to beat him easily. you go in the far left corner of the screen, crotch and mash the piss out of the B button until he dies.

It's an optional boss. The game doesn't force you to fight him. FFXII has a TON of optional enemies and bosses and some are clearly aimed at the hardcore gamer who is either willing to spend a lot of time levelling or can come up with some extremely good strategies with the game's gambit system. Some of those optional bosses are not so much about fun but are about presenting a very hardcore challenge

For players who are into that, FFXII is probably the most hardcore of the post FF 7 games I've played. Getting all the items and defeating all the enemies requires a lot of patience, time, good strategies and sometimes plain old luck. The game even has a built in achievement system which I thought was pretty cool

The game is more fun for anyone who just wants to play right through and experience the story, but I always have to do all the optional challenges when I play FF games. I've been like that since Final Fantasy 6, which was my first FF game

okay. i kind of assumed they were optional. i was HUGELY into FF7 back in the day so i know about all the optional bosses. i was one of those hardcore gamers to level my characters up enough to tear into ruby and emerald weapon without a problem. but still, those guys didn't take anywhere near an hour. that does like an epic boss battle.

Yeah, that is a cheap exploit that I was not aware of as a kid... and I am glad lol. It would have ruined the accomplishment for beating the game. Fight him without the exploit and its a whole different game.

Not the best game ever, but Bayonetta had some awesome boss fights! The finishing moves are insane, and the size of some of the bosses are gigantic. That game was one of the funnest games ive played in awhile
