Civ 2 is so far my favorite one of the series, but I haven't actually played IV at all yet. I might skip it and wait for Civ V.

Civilization Revolution on the consoles (360, NDS, etc) is pretty fun, too, but it's a very simplified version of the Civilization concept.

I cant stand Civ1, love 2, indifferent to 3, played 4 with a buddy who passed away so no more, and have played the two boardgames a whopping total of once each - and that was enough there.

If yall didnt know, Civilization the PC game is inspired by a board game created in the 80s called, rightly enough, Civilization. It and it sequel, Advanced Civilization, are well known to take over 8 hours a game. So Sid Meyers want to create that experience, but in a way you could play without taking up many hours for eight people.

The funny part about it is the actual Civilization game is long out of print and very saught after, but there is a boardgame based on the video game

If you load the original Civ4 instead of one of it's expansions there is a tutorial option.
