tempo could have been an amazing game. but it isn't. controls suck. by suck i mean they feel stiff. you would think that a game with a theme of music - which is supposed to be fluid and smooth (minus dillinger escape plane) - would have better controls. but what takes the cake are the boss battles. they are uninspired, bland, and boring.

Yes, I consider a fighter beaten when I've made it through arcade mode which admittedly I had never done in MvC2 before today...but then again, seeing as I've only played it about five times, I suppose that's not that big a thing. I still prefer MvC1. At least it had character endings.
Anyway, a fighter is beaten when arcade mode is beaten. A fighter is completed when all unlockables are collected, endings are viewed, etc. That's my definition for it anyway. And I've got a lot left to do to complete MvC2. I've currently only unlocked four characters, two costumes, and three galleries...this may take a while.

My wife has been out of town this weekend, and I should have beaten a lot more games than I did the past few days, but I've been playing a lot of Arkham Asylum. After playing Arkham for five straight hours, I went back to the classics. So I beat Contra again, and without the code, I beat it using two continues. I finally figured out how to beat the boss that always seems to take three lives away from me, so a perfect run is now probable for me.
Super C. I don't know what it is, but I don't like it as much as Contra. It looks the same, pretty much plays the same, but has a different feel; if that makes any sense. Enjoyable game, just not as fun as Contra is.
San Andreas. Definitely a game I play multiple times each year. It's also in my top 5 games of all time, well, at least the PC version of it is. As of now, there are only two or three missions that give me any trouble at all; the second rc plane mission, and backing the car up to prevent a suicide mission. Other than that, the missions are now cake. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to GTA SA. If I die, I resume from last save. But that's probably why I got so good at it.
The graphics just look amazing on a PC, the controls feel tighter, even when using a cheap logitech controller. And being able to add your own radio station kicks so much ass, especially since I love rap music from the 90's, so it all fits together. GTA SA also achieves something that so few games do, you feel like you are the video game character. Arkham is great, but I don't feel like I'm batman when I play it. In Andreas, you feel like a gangster from Watts. Maybe it's all the little comments CJ says in-game. Maybe it's the way you can customize his wardrobe. Maybe it's the environment, but there is something about this game that really puts you in the character's shoes. GTA IV doesn't do it for me.

Re: Games Beaten: 2010
I gotta agree. I realized I loved the game when I jacked a riding lawnmower and performed a drive-by on some suckers at the beach. I would get bored, steal a bicycle, and just ride it around town. There was so much to do, and moving from city to city felt like I was navigating a much larger world than the limited locales in previous games.Luke wrote:San Andreas. Plus jacking cars and gunning down pigs while listening to Easy E? Pure gold.
Re: Games Beaten: 2010
I love jacking a motorcycle and taking it to the skate park. Fun stuff. I'm sure there are literally hundreds of fun "toying around" things I haven't done yet. And like the previous installments, you get to use your brains to make missions much easier. Need to jack an armored vehicle? Create your own roadblock by jacking a few cars and cluttering up the road with them. A mission requires you to snipe someone? Nonsense, blow them the eff up with a rocket launcher instead.Ack wrote:

And the mini games! Complex? No. Great detail to graphics? No. But they are so addictive and fun.
Just a great game in all aspects. And my friends and I still quote the game all the time. Even recently I was grocery shopping and heard "Hey CJ!" and it was one of my buddies shouting at me. One of my favorite quotes and deliveries from the game is "I'm just gonna listen". I say it all the time to my wife when she's in a bad mood, although she doesn't get the reference.
When you've played thousands of games, and own several hundred, it is hard to make a top 5 list. That said Andreas is without a doubt in my top 5.

ChuChu Rocket was fun, but short. I assume it's missing a lot of online content, but that doesn't matter too much, as it's still great fun in multiplayer.
Jet Set Radio was the first dreamcast game for me that's REALLY lived up to the hype. Space Channel 5, Chuchu rocket, Sonic adventure 1 & 2 - They're all good enough games, but not as amazing as they were hyped to be. This was much better than I expected though, my favourite Dreamcast game by some way, despite it being kinda short, the final boss being ridiculously easy and the Tutorial being ridiculously hard (I still cant beat it, and I've beat the game).

I don't think I've ever beat the tutorial either - it used to put me off to playing the game. Now that I think of it, I'm not sure I ever played it through to completion either...alienjesus wrote:Gals Fighters NGPC
