Yeah kind of noobish I guess but I really don't know how to do it. Just started physically buying retro stuff from my childhood and I'm clueless here. The RF Adapter is foreign to me. For those that might be willing to help I have a Sony Bravia 32" TV and a Comcast cable box.
I remember my old man having a stroke every time my parents bought me a new console trying to hook them up back in the day (him doing the 32X and Sega CD with a Genesis 1 would have made great YouTube videos) and now I am feeling the same pain. Can I just get A/V cables at RadioShack or something or is there a way to do it only with what I have (RF Adapter, power supply)? Thanks very much for your time.

Definitely as described above should work (even the ladies?) using an RF unit. You could also look for a Genesis AV cable at a retro game store or online/ebay.

Sounds hot, although (brace yourself) when you say "cable tv cable" where do you mean exactly? I've tried the one on the comcast box and the one that is normally used for the cable that comes right out of the wall (to the cable box.
Basically my cable comes out of the wall > splitter > cable box, and that's it. The A/V cables go into my TV from the cable box.

What do the a/v cables look like that are coming out of your cable box to your tv?Snatch1414 wrote:Sounds hot, although (brace yourself) when you say "cable tv cable" where do you mean exactly? If the first one is being used, you have to unplug that from the tv, and put the genesis cable in that one. If it is not being used, then on your TV there should be an input named"coaxial", "cable" or,"antenna"... use that.
The second set of 3 cables is a regular AV cables that you can buy to replace the old RF cable to get a better picture quality. Those usually can be found on ebay.

Re: How to hook up a Genesis 2 to a flat screen TV?
Out of the box without modding, why not just get some inexpensive composite cables?
The pic will be a lot better then that coaxial cable.
Racketboy sells them for 4 bucks, I think outta stock right now.
There are links from this link for other sites including Amazon.

Enjoy the pixelation. I've tried all of my old systems on my Bravis 42 inch and they look like dick.

^^ so you don't enjoy seeing the games the way the programmers made them?
News flash: Sega Genesis games are pixelated! If you get used to it, you just might (gasp!) prefer it that way. A decent picture is going to expose those wonderful pixels.
I can't get enough pixels, personally.
sorry

It kills me how so many retro gamers go out of their way to convince you that RGB looks like shit on an LCD/Plasma. It's a 16-bit console running at 240p that's probably older than most of the people on this forum, what the hell do you honestly expect?
