So I bought an N-Gage, what are some good games/emulators?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

$60 for 450 minutes and unlimited text? I don't care if it's national with no roaming or not, that's a fucking crazy amount for a BASE non-data plan.
60 a month??
Jesus christ my dad's first car cost that much monthly

Uhh, thats why I got the prepaid plan, I can be as antisocial as I want, and I wont cost me a dime. (Well, It would cost me a dollar becasue I get spam texts from AT&T weekly)

I would have done prepaid if the plan for it didn't cost $20 more than a standard AT&T plan.

I'm not one to keep track of texts and minutes so I'm probably going to end up taking the $60no contract option and after about 3-4 months go to another carrier when AT&T unlocks the phone if I'm not happy with it.

At the very least it's all better that the dicks at Verizon.

I have Verizon and I pay $65 a month with a data plan. $60 for basic phone service seems a bit expensive but at least you can change carriers so quickly.

All of these prices seem ludicrous to me. Just refilled $50 for 460 minutes that will last me at least 6 months.

I pay $60/month for Verizon with 450 minutes and 250 texts. It's $40 for the minutes, $5 for the texts (I only use a fraction but it beats the per/text rate if I don't get the plan) and $5 for insurance. Then there's $10 of taxes and other fees.

Maybe another cell phone store may get you that blank SIMM card?
Especially if you look like a potential customer.

We need a Vonage cell phone. :?

So I activated it today, what are some good games or emulators for it? I've heard that the original GameBoy emulation is really good but can't find a free emulator anywhere.

Yes, emulators on the N-gage are sometimes paid software...

There is a decent and free Genesis emulator based on Picodrive - you can play games decently if you go without sound I think.

You should be able to play a lot of Java games on it.

As for good games, there are some.

High Seize is great if you like turn-based games (it is like Advance Wars but a different theme and balance).

I haven't played Pathway to Glory games but they have good scores and are probably very good (again, if you like the genre).

Snakes is a classic.

Although the ball physics is crap, Mile High Pinball is a good or even great game due to the novel concept. I wish they implemented the great idea better.

I played Rifts and got into it, but the game is slow and at a certain part the game always crashes on me. After 11 hours or so invested in the game that really pissed me off and I haven't found a way to continue. I know of others that had the exact same problem.

I liked the Diablo-esque game Requiem of Hell, but I wouldn't say it is "great".

I never got Civilization to run on mine, unfortunately. Would really like to have it on my QD.

I haven't got into

Avoid the Puzzle bobble game though, it is awful (that goes even if you like Puzzle Bobble - the port is junk).

There are several games which have equivalent ports on the GBA, possibly better to play them on the GBA as the D-pad and buttons are probably better (but if you don't have a GBA SP or DS, the N-Gage is backlit).

I've enjoyed my N-Gage for a couple of years and although emulators may be hard to find, it's far from impossible

most of them do require that you purchase the emulator though, but there should be ways to circumvent this

Gameboy emulator is IMO the best running/looking on the phone

keep in mind that you have a Symbian OS 6.1 and there's plenty of Java games available, albeit not as many as for the later OS's

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/

is a nice place to start

Civilization on the N-Gage is fairly straight-forward and runs fine, even-though it's a small screen

Rifts is the only (to my knowledge) computer-based version of the traditional PnP, so it's a must have

there's an Elder Scrolls game available as well, with decent graphics/gameplay

Worms Armageddon never grows old(?)

there's a fighting game (3D), which I can't recall the name of, but it's a decent game

SSX - Out of Bounds is fun, if nothing else because it's 3D on a hand-held

there's generally not that many games out for the N-Gage, but the Symbian OS games (Java games) makes up for that

there's plenty of great, great Java games out there, which I've only been able to play on Symbian OS; and they retain that OldSkool flavor with nice 2D graphics and great game-play
