Saturn Imports

Post by ott0bot »

I have a US Saturn and an import key, but what are some good imports that....

a: aren't over 50 dollars
b: aren't Virtua Fighter
c: don't require you to learn Japanese

Anyone have suggestions?

i've only played a handful of imports.

choro q park: nice racing game that can be figured out pretty easily without japanese knowledge. there's a translation of the menus on gamefaqs.

gungriffon II: it's gungriffon, only with smoother graphics and better missions and levels. loved it.

racing games are always a good bet.

any arcade conversion game will be easy to play (outrun, afterburner, any of the other sega ages games besides phantasy star collection). there's a ton of taito, capcom, konami classics discs that could keep you entertained for hours.

There are tons of the 2D shooters and fighters that are good.
Most of the good fighters require the 4MB RAM cart.
Does your import cart have extra RAM?

you should get Dead or Alive, you should get it for about 10 bucks and its better than virtua fighter 2.

For shumps:
In the Hunt - horizontal shump made by the same fellas that made Metal Slug (very underrated horizontal - and I am a vertical guy):

Donpachi - though it is right on your price cusp:

DoDonPachi - the better sequel:

Granted after some of the people here see these they might be bought, but good luck.

And I personally believe all Saturn collections should have Clockwork Knight and Baku Baku, however only a copy of the first is on ebay right now:

I fought tooth and nail for a good working copy of Baku Baku, I ended up having to buy it with a copy of D and another NiGHTS sampler - which makes like six or seven.

I have the action replay 4-in one, which has the wonderfully annoying load screen, but has RAM and memory, plus the import key. Do you know if it allows you to play PAL games too? I've found some auctions finding PAL version of Shining Force 3 going for way less than the US verision.

I really dig 2d shooters so i'll check out In the Hunt and DonDonPachi. I've been looking for Samurai Spirits 2, probably my favorite fighter!

Is there a list of Saturn shmups on Racket Boy?

Thanks for your suggestions!
