Final Fantasy V and VI Coming To The 3DS?

The 3DS is gonna have an amazing game library at this rate. I can't wait to get a Nintendo 3DS

Oh boy they're going to re-release YET ANOTHER remake of these games?! Wow that's almost as great as if they said they'd release the FIRST FINAL FANTASY for the 3DS! Well, I'm sure that announcement is coming...

They owe us FInal Fantasy 7 instead of spinoffs or movies.

The reason they don't redo 7 is that they know that it will not be nearly as well received if redone. The old fans will be pissed from the inevitable changes and the new people won't have that "omg 3D" magic that helped 7 back in the day.

The nostalgia is strong with this one.
7 is great and all, but I think the nostalgia factor is the reason so many people love it vehemently. As you say, anything they change would be picked apart by the old fans. Not to say I wouldn't like to see a remake though, since early ps1 graphics are the games that haved aged the least gracefully. (Go look at FF7's character models and tell me they don't look bad. Almost as terrible as 8's....)

Yeah I guess you're right, there hasn't been an actual remake of these games, just endless ports. I'm just bit disappointed w/ Square lately. Most of their original games have been mediocre at best, so they keep trotting out the same old games to cash in on nostalgia. The fact that I can play them just fine on my SNES means I generally don't care. Especially when they have so many OTHER properties they could be porting, ones which weren't released in the states already.

I wouldn't get it personally. Part of the charm of IV-VI IMO was the 2D sprites. When I played III and IV for the DS, I found the 3D to be hideous. I'd like remakes of VII-IX (maybe X?) for the 3DS though.
