I visit That's Entertainment in Worcester and Fitchburg, MA frequently. Nice guys and usually fair prices. The Worcester store is the larger of the two, so if you're making a trip I recommend checking out that one. http://thatse.com/vgames.html#1

There's a comic shop in Reading, MA called Comically Speaking that recently started selling video games, and already has a pretty decent selection:

Comically Speaking
575 Main Street
Reading, MA

I went to Comically Speaking when they were just starting to carry games I believe. Looks like they have a much better selection now. How are the prices?

not sure how useful these are, but if anyone's ever in Sweden...?

=)

I am as I live there, thank you so much for posting these...I'll check out the one in Stockholm this weekend and only hope its prices are better than most ordinary game outlets where videogames, much like everything else are hilariously expensive.

Checked this place out today and it was pretty darn cool actually...for a European game shop.

While they mostly had old Xbox/PS2 and GC stuff, they had a surprisingly large GBA section and a ton of SNES and N64 games as well as PS1 stuff much of it the actually desirable stuff like Pocky and Rocky rather than the usual Sports licenses that often litter "retro" sections.

I snagged a mint in box copy of GBA Manic Miner which has become next to impossible to find on ebay or elsewhere and thought I'd got a bargain N64 Beetle Adventure Racing for just 25 SEK (about £2.40) but that's when the store revealed an odd policy.

Apparently some of the games they have on the shelves you don't get the boxes with only the cart. Unfortunately this was one of them...I still would have taken the cart but the guy couldn't find it!

They also had some cool old Game and Watches behind the counter glass and various other retro paraphanalia.

Overall I was impressed and the prices, while sometimes hilariously Swedish (650 SEK for a boxed GBC!) were more often than not fairly reasonable for what they were.

One final thing according to their bag they have another store at:

Drottninggatan
Tegnergatan 32

Next to Radmansgatan Tunnelbana

If anyone wants to add that to Sweden's list. I'm going to go check it out tomorrow.

I'd love to add it to the list, but which shop are you referring to? There's two different ones in the quote.

South East England:

Best Deals, Dover

A long standing shop with a variety of used games, Dvds and CDs. Ranging from the latest PS3 stuff to old Master System games.

X Games, Canterbury

Underground small shop at the back of X Electricals, packed full of retro games and accessories, including well priced PS2 games, GC, Xbox, guides, shed loads of Sega stuff including Saturn steering wheels and the like, rare GBA Sp models, picked myself up some American Gamecube games in a bundle, struck a deal with the counter man. There is also a TV setup with a retro game available for 2 players to play on.

Anyone else live in south east England? Most the game shops I know about have shut down.

Nice to see another UK member, Razzmatazz.

Unfortunately I can hardly find any retro shops in the UK anymore. It's like they all just died in the past 5 years :( Gamestation used to be amazing and then they were bought out by Game...

2 I know of:

Power Games, Pontypridd (South Glamorgan, Wales) - Vastly overpriced often to be honest, but have a lot of fairly decent stuff.

Lees Games, Morecambe (Lancaster, England) - I went to this a few months ago whilst away and it's incredibly good. The staff are very friendly. The shop is owned by a huge retro fanatic. They have Saturn, Megadrive, N64, Gamecube, Playstation, SNES games etc on the shelves. But they also have loads of stock behind the counter including much older and more obscure stock. http://www.leesgamesltd.co.uk/index.html
They apparently do mail order if you go to theitr site and contact them. Never done that though and their site is a little bit amateur/bare.

If you're ever in Morecambe there's also a few other retro games shops around. Don't what it is about that place, but they have like 3 in just that one small town.
