What I think about 3D movies

Post by Anayo »

It doesn't look like it's leaping out of the screen. Instead it looks like some things in the frame are slightly elevated over other things.

It's mostly cool, but it reminds me of the Nintendo Virtual Boy since my eyes feel like they're "working harder" and I can't quite focus on fine details like I can ordinarily. It's a bit fatiguing to my vision and has an overall "blurring" effect to the picture.

It would be better if it didn't come with this detrimental quality. But there's another shortcoming, namely that some shots look better with 3D than others. Quick example: track shots with parallax scrolling look awesome in 3D. Really cluttered shots with tons of intricate details are a mess. However, I don't get the impression directors always plan ahead to shoot the movie in such a way to maximize the effect. To do so, they'd have to plan ahead from the storyboard stage of things. When I watched Toy Story 3 I didn't personally feel they planned it this way...

I think I'll watch them in 2D from now on. It's not really an improved experience to me personally and I don't foresee it staying. The only reason I can figure they're pushing it so hard is to charge people an extra $2.50 for glasses.

I haven't seen a single 3D movie since this fad got restarted a couple years ago. I think the last time I saw a movie in 3D was probably 7th grade at disney world.

Yeah I saw Toy Story 3 in 3D because we didn't wanna wait an hour to see it in 2D, and I totally got the feeling that Pixar didn't plan for it to be in 3D and Disney just told them "Oh by the way your movie is gonna be in 3D k thx bai"

"Also if they make a Toy Story 4 whatever idiot at Disney thought of it is gonna find Mickey Mouse's head in their bed when they wake up."

I think 3D is cool for 5 minutes until I get a headache and have trouble running into things for the hour afterwards.

I've only seen one 3D film since I was a kid and it was an Imax underwater documentary thing at the aquarium in New Orleans.

3D makes the screen blurry for me... I do see stuff "relatively closer" sometimes, but mostly, it just makes the screen blurry.

Toy story 3 3d was ok for me because there were hardly any 3d effects (not much blurry), of course I had to pay extra and watch it with glasses on top of my original glasses...so that sucks.

You guys haven't seen bad 3d. Olympics had a lot of bad 3Ds, they were very blurry.

I watch films with glasses because I want to see stuff clear, now you 3D it and it feels like I'm watching without my glasses...

I saw Avatar in IMAX in 3D when it came out. It was pretty lame. 3D was kinda cool for a couple parts, but overall it was probably a worse experience than if it was just in 2D. (The movie still would've sucked but at least it wouldn't have looked like shit and wouldn't have caused eye strain.)
I'm known as ZebetiteGlitch or Zeza Von Thantos on other platforms.

Sounds like you aren't watching the 3D movie with the needed glasses.
