One of the worst things that can happen to your collection.
I dont know if many people here know who Guru Larry is, but he recently had a disaster involving his gaming collection and made a video on you tube to warn others.
btw I'm not sure if this is the correct forum section since every thing got moved around, but my logic was this is to do with collecting so the games room is the right place.

Why the frick would you store your prized collection in a shed? Say hello to humidity, insects, mold, and God knows what else.

Ouch.
I notice a lot of people here have their game rooms in their basements, which would also be susceptible to flooding.

only saw a little bit of the video, but i was blown away by where he kept his stuff. i feel bad, but what do you expect keeping your stuff in a wooden shed.s1mplehumar wrote:Why the frick would you store your prized collection in a shed? i don't think he will be warning too many people because i doubt most people store their stuff, especially electronics, in a wooden shed.CantStrafeRight wrote: made a video on you tube to warn others.

Not that I'm defending where he stored his games but it was a metal shed.final fight cd wrote: i only saw a little bit of the video, but i was actually blown away by where he kept this stuff. i feel bad, but what do you expect keeping your shit in wooden shed.
Remember that a leak in a roof can happen in a house too.
A few years ago I found that water was coming in at my windows when there was a lot of rain and a strong wind. I was lucky that nothing was damaged but there was enough water that the carpet was soaked in that corner of the room and there was a bubble of water downstairs collecting in the ceiling paper.

Hm, maybe "Shaun of the Dead" enamored him with the idea of playing video games in a shed.s1mplehumar wrote:Why the frick would you store your prized collection in a shed? Say hello to humidity, insects, mold, and God knows what else.

Yeesh that sucks. One of my friends was also storing her SNES stuff temporarily in a shed that leaked in a bad storm. She said the console was toast. Some of the games weren't too bad and she ended up just giving them to me. Thankfully I revived them all. Mario Kart was pretty nasty inside though with corrosion. I got lucky when Ike blew through and my roof was leaking. I caught it in time and had plastic from Katrina to throw over stuff in the living room. Thankfully there wasn't water in my closet too as I would have had to pull everything out of there to protect it.

Its like not locking your car door and then making a video going, hang on someone stole my car.
